Depressed with my situation, later 50s

Depressed with my situation, later 50s

Hi there people thx for having me. 1st post so l this is an ok place for depression as l couldn't find a depression section.

lt seems to me crazy especially at this stage but l'm just so damn stuck about my situation and just can not seem to be able to come up with a decision on what to do with it.

l didn't do well getting rid of my house but l did still also have a block of land in a small town. My ex and l bought it yrs back it was just suppose to be an investment but now because of the way things went with my house, it's looking like the best solution from here would be to just build something on the block. There's no debt on the block at all now and l do have small savings left that l could build a simple house with so financially it'd be ideal as l'd have no debt or mortgage.

Problem is a few things.

1stly, although l moved to regional area awhile back now, l grew up in the city but the town here at the block is tiny, no shops just a pub. Nearest decent town is 45k away.

The block does have a small cabin on it and l;ve been staying 6mths now supposedly figuring out whether l wanna build on it of not.

lt is a pretty block and spot and l'd have no debt if l just stayed here, where as not only don't l feel up to moving any more but l can't afford to now or to take on a new mortgage either after the house loss but somewhere better would be much much dearer and there'd be no way without one.

Trouble is, the town depresses the hell out of me especially at night every night l just sink again even if the day hasn't been too bad, sometimes even quite nice. Night comes round and down l go.

lt's just so damn small and away and at night there's just nothing except house lights on, that's it.

l mean if l had a choice l wouldn't choice to settle here never bought it back when for that at all, it's just the best solution though all round for sure. All round except that l just get so damn depressed out here.

So 6mths and l'm still absolutely nowhere about building something so l'm still just in the little cabin. Trouble with just doing it is, that if this went on and l just hated it here, l might not even be able to sell it and get my money back anyway and it still leaves the same problems above, with going somewhere better anyway.

lt's mad but l don't think l've ever been so stuck in my life.

Best to all.

mr

Might give it a bit more time here, Been 5mths, part of that l went away again for a mth.

lt's been confusing there's big factors involved, like completely starting over if l didn't just stay and that'd all take prob a couple of yrs between selling this one, finding something else in this market that "is" in a better spot, that l could afford , that'd have to be building there too bc anything with a roof like a unit or even a run down house is still above what l could do without borrowing .

Like got it made financially if l do just stay here.

Like can do the most coolest of houses, done the plan.

Like sometimes it's really nice here and it's a v pretty little spot.

Like l'm not as depressed here as l was earlier, often lately it's actually really nice.

ldbloodyk. So many factors to weigh up. Love my main town and the coast to, that'd be out the window if l sold, won't get any closer to there for this money.

lt'd have to be some other area, no coast, in order for it to be cheap enough.

Bloody bloody.

was Depressed then stopped overthinking and thinking of impossible options

..or just leave property there and run away, have to keep paying rates tho . @mrmista

making place liveable increases options if its options you want

..or .. roll dice think theres a movie about that .. assign option to each face , and you do whatever it lands on ..........

@TAB

Heya Tabman

Actually, tried running away for a mth 🤣

l like the dice, might try that.

Apart from dice, considering once again yeah, going ahead, make it nicely livable, see how she goes.

Get a nicer trip car for main town and getting about, some good music .

@mrmista BAHAHA 🤣 You are hilarious. I needed a laugh.
If I stay in bed long enough and not do anything will life change?

Because trying isn’t getting me anywhere.

@Glisten tell @mrmista bout @tonys ..

anyway was this dude on here for a while ,used to tell me to get bongo van and drive the country. not really'me' but idea has its merits.

another guy in real life (IRL) used to say go rent a place by beach for a year. He owned a house yet would do rental contracts in area he preferred. now he has bought there.

so get some sucker in ( @Glisten ) to build your place while you roam the country robbing shops or whatever it is you do .. lol .. 1 think love about vic is going to deli and getting a slab lol ...

@TAB

Yeah could do any of above ha ha.

Actually, left my old house and just got back here from 13mths vanning the Murray before this.

Wasn't sure if it'd be my thing either but had a nice time so. Tell ya what, million dollar views for free, not too shabby. Lotta people up there living along the river, met one couple 15yrs.

l'd enjoy doing the place no worries there, only once though. Done enough property stuff and renos, lf l did this one , no more.

But bloody hell, been scanning last few wks RE, fkme, only 1 or 2 within 200k in any other area l'd like and that l could buy on my budget if l sold this. And they aren't even at least "near" , the coast either so, and had other things l didn't like too. Sooooo ! tricky business.

@tyme why NDIS allocated funds to unregistered NDIS providers. Is beyond my comprehension.

Taking advantage of vulnerable people is the lowest of the low. As civilised as a Chimpanzee War.

True, makes sense. However, I also see why so many people aren't registered. Have you seen the application? I've looked at it and even for a sole trader, you need all these checks, verification, auditing etc. So in the end, people just opt out not to be registered. Instead of using up the $$$ of NDIS participants on going through all the checks, they just 'hire' someone for the service they want - even just to get someone to help them!

No, of course I feel that if you are doing high level personal care and things like that, you need clear checks... but for someone who comes and mows the lawns, do they have to go through all that too? It's a lot.

So I see it from both sides @Glisten
