We are all just walking each other home

We are all just walking each other home

Genuine compassion requires letting go of the ego-driven identity of being the "helper" and the other as the "helpee," which actually creates separation.

Feeling good has been bumming me out today.

I had a post about it, which I didn't publish, it was attempted humor but it felt wrong, it was glib.

Now that I have sat with it for a few hours.

When I'm not ok, my ego is in check. When I am ok, my ego is more dominant. I think this is the main source of discomfort for me.

The reason my ego is central to my thoughts is that I am trying to become nobody. I have had tastes of it and it is truely liberating.

"You can have it all but first you have to become nobody."

"Having it All" explained is. When you stop trying to be a specific, constrained "somebody," you cease to have tension, pretenses, or fears of losing your status. This brings you to a state of being where you can "have it all"—meaning you are present, open, and connected to the universe rather than a limited identity.

The Taoist discipline of Wu Wei has at the heart of it, this concept "do nothing and nothing is left undone"

Which means results are achieved without forceful struggle.

I think when I feel bad it is easy to do but when I feel good I tense up and things feel forced.

When I feel good I'm the "helper" creating separation but when I dont feel good I'm nobody.

I know this is just an atrophied muscle. But it's a tough one to work on because feeling good isn't a regular occurrence and it's not easy to want to do the work when I just want to enjoy it while it lasts. But then I feel uneasy.

Now that I've named it. Next time I feel good I'm going to do the work.

Let me end on a joke,

The Rabbi is standing at the altar, overcome with religious fervor. He throws himself on the floor and cries out, "Oh God, I am nothing! I am nothing!"

The Cantor, seeing this, is also swept up in the spirit. He throws himself down next to the Rabbi and shouts, "Oh God, I too am nothing! I am nothing!"

The janitor at the back of the synagogue, watching this display, is moved to his knees. He throws himself down and cries out, "Oh God, I am nothing!

"The Rabbi nudges the Cantor and whispers, "Look who thinks he's nothing!"

I find myself asking “why” at different times.

feel I’m constantly searching for answers @tyme

I know I learn better if I have found the answers.

assistance and guidance can help.

being told the answer, what to do or not do etc I don’t respond well to. Lack of control, not being included in things, being condescended to. Ways that being told leave me feeling.

I have similar reaction. I push back, put up resistance. My mind goes into shut down mode.

@tyme The only MoreGoodDays program I can find has an association with one specific health insurance firm. Part of eligibility is having to have health insurance of certain level with the specific health insurance firm.

from the little bit I’ve read it has me thinking of a pain management program run by local public hospital by team of MH specialist, that program focuses on using meditation, music and other mindfulness techniques to help people with chronic pain cope with the pain

I already use some of those things to help. I use meditation and listen to certain music. I also write, do craft items (all depending on if I have capacity to use my hands)

Perfect timing! I just saw your post @Flutterbug9 .

Yeah, I don't know anything about the program. I only just came across it and thought of you. So it's connected to an insurance firm? Ah... fair enough.

How are you today anyway?

@i8myego

I like your simplicity: "I'm a simple man, duality means us and them. Non-duality means us."

I also had a strong "Love your neighbour" ethic, but it seems to also leave us open to being taken advantage of. I am more careful about my use of the "love" word now. There are lots of different levels I need to respond to different people, for different reasons. Though that said, I often say I love something, an idea. I am keeping "real love" for family at the moment.

I am probably not good enough at telling people to get lost, but learning to find and assert boundaries. It does my head in. I am not good at it.

@Jynx Keeping the mind and heart open, seem key to me, about science and spirituality and culture and religion.

Animals are great in the variety of behaviours. WIsh I knew what was going on in my cats' heads. I joke and say they have physics lessons when they knock my metronome and it goes click click. I do believe animals are starter than we often give them credit.

@tyme I accept AI as phenonema, ie., plural. I do not think it wise to give it more hype than tek companies already generate. I am wary. I have mentioned I have spoken to people in the field since the 80s. I do not respect AI in the arts, and so cant say I am impressed about that particular article. I can feel for family who may not like it.

I feel too much enthusiasm is not wise. It is too complex, and wastes a lot of water and energy and time. AI takes jobs and shifts the ideas of what it is to actually be human. I am underwhelmed by AI imitation of humans. Its just data, large language models, or digital photographic and cinematic data. I am not imporessed that the universities are so lax about regulation in the field, except, for slowly figuring out when students use AI to cheat. I am sorry people are so taken in by it.

Yeah, it's pretty scary how far and fast things are going. Considering, when I was a kid, internet didn't even really exist @Appleblossom

Goodness knows what the next generation will have!

I've heard a lot about people 'bringin back the dead' through AI. Some families pay for it so they can say good bye to their loved ones one last time. I remember reading about it last year. There was a korean documentary about it.

I've got the shivers!

SO so glad to see you @i8myego - we've missed you.

Hope you are okay

Re: We are all just walking each other home

@tyme Sorry I cannot buy into the hype. People can be very gullible. The tek world can be predatory. I do not see it as good, though lots of people have anecdotal opinions. Its a new fashion and bandwagon. I suggest caution. I am not interested in relationships with machines, more than I have to do, to stay connected in the modern world. I did not want a phone and was forced to get one, in Melbourne Covid lockdowns.

I was in the ATO when the internet was floated, and we discussed it a little, then I married a person in IT. I have seen how inhumane tek can be. Hmmm.

Thanks for sharing.

I have a strange relationship with loneliness. In that I have never not been lonely. I see most people being together but still completely isolated from each other. I think company is just a distraction from loneliness.

That until we (society) learn to properly communicate and tolerate each other everyone is isolated. Except me, ironically, because I'll tell people exactly who I am and what I want. And, people hate it hahaha.

Hope you are good.

Amen to that @i8myego . I and thinking along the same lines at you. So many people are 'together' but super lonely... whereas I'm on my own, but totally NOT lonely! I love my 'me time'.

If I'm around people all day, I need days to recuperate!

I think it's about just learning to be content with whatever situation you find yourself. I'm glad I've found that because it wasn't like that in the past. I was miserable! Glad that stage in my life is over.
