We are all just walking each other home

We are all just walking each other home

Genuine compassion requires letting go of the ego-driven identity of being the "helper" and the other as the "helpee," which actually creates separation.

Feeling good has been bumming me out today.

I had a post about it, which I didn't publish, it was attempted humor but it felt wrong, it was glib.

Now that I have sat with it for a few hours.

When I'm not ok, my ego is in check. When I am ok, my ego is more dominant. I think this is the main source of discomfort for me.

The reason my ego is central to my thoughts is that I am trying to become nobody. I have had tastes of it and it is truely liberating.

"You can have it all but first you have to become nobody."

"Having it All" explained is. When you stop trying to be a specific, constrained "somebody," you cease to have tension, pretenses, or fears of losing your status. This brings you to a state of being where you can "have it all"—meaning you are present, open, and connected to the universe rather than a limited identity.

The Taoist discipline of Wu Wei has at the heart of it, this concept "do nothing and nothing is left undone"

Which means results are achieved without forceful struggle.

I think when I feel bad it is easy to do but when I feel good I tense up and things feel forced.

When I feel good I'm the "helper" creating separation but when I dont feel good I'm nobody.

I know this is just an atrophied muscle. But it's a tough one to work on because feeling good isn't a regular occurrence and it's not easy to want to do the work when I just want to enjoy it while it lasts. But then I feel uneasy.

Now that I've named it. Next time I feel good I'm going to do the work.

Let me end on a joke,

The Rabbi is standing at the altar, overcome with religious fervor. He throws himself on the floor and cries out, "Oh God, I am nothing! I am nothing!"

The Cantor, seeing this, is also swept up in the spirit. He throws himself down next to the Rabbi and shouts, "Oh God, I too am nothing! I am nothing!"

The janitor at the back of the synagogue, watching this display, is moved to his knees. He throws himself down and cries out, "Oh God, I am nothing!

"The Rabbi nudges the Cantor and whispers, "Look who thinks he's nothing!"

Yep @Flutterbug9 it aint for cissies, as a saying goes.

Its good you have medical team. I try and manage my neck issues with a range of approaches to minimise meds, but we all have to do what suits each of us. Mine has been long term. Recently physio gave a couple good strengthening exercises. However I tried to hard on my hip exercises and set it back into more pain...aaagh! silly me! lol

Easy to do at times @Appleblossom

today is worst I’ve been since late last year.

20mins maximum today and I’ve had to rest for couple hrs due to pain in lower lumber area. Even at rest I’m getting random sciatic pain

both hands swollen, only anti inflammatory med I can take not bringing the inflammation down

Re: We are all just walking each other home

@Flutterbug9 inflammation can be from different causes. I had some as a medication side effect.

Sciatica is not fun either. Mine is mild, but I am careful.

Take care

@Appleblossom "keep a vague eye open" I love this.

I am grateful to have gotten inspired in scientific inquiry too, as well as having a fascination with the spiritual side of things as well.

I think often about our origins, how and why we evolved the way we have, the relics of that past and how they still show up in the day to day. For some reason, remembering I am an animal helps me to deal with the stressors of everyday modern life.

Thanks for sharing hun 💜

@tyme During one of the first couple of appointments with my new psychologist the words “do you think you would like to plus be able to find other activities to do” were said to me.

I felt empowered and in charge of making the decisions (total opposite to psych I was seeing last couple years who used to tell me I needed to get involved in things).

About 5 of us play Mexican Trains domino game for couple hours each Tuesday afternoon. I play croquet each Wednesday morning. Each Thursday evening, on average, 25 of us play Mexican Trains dominoes for a few hours. I now loop earbuds and, similar to tonight, I come home on a dopamine high. Without the earbuds I doubt I’d still be here. I spend maximum 2hrs most days getting chores done, some days nothing gets done as need down time

YES @Flutterbug9 . I totally agree. ON my MH Advance Statement, it specifies "Do not tell them what to do. Invite them instead. Give them choice".

I found that I was so emotionally out of control that if anyone tried to tell me to do something, I felt they were trying to control me and therefore resisted.

I also find choice and empowerment a lot more helpful than being made to do things. Also, I often want to know the science behind what I'm doing. I don't do things for the sake of it.

I think that's why I find art hard. I don't 'get' why I'm doing it and I don't know what to do with the finished product.

@tyme I didn’t get home last night until lot later than usual, I’m thinking this might have been why I missed catching up and chatting with you.

last night I was in ‘right place, right time’ and spent some time talking with a person who is dealing with 90% similarities with some areas of my chronic pain. Can’t put into words how it felt to talk with someone who personally knows and lives with these same physical health aspects.

one possible glimmer of hope for one specific area, involves requesting referral to, for me, another new allied health professional. Person I was talking with mentioned they self administer on a regular basis a specific type of pain relief which assists with the severe neck pain and constant headaches related to disc degeneration in neck area/small number of discs at top of spine

Do you know about this program called MoreGoodDays? I've only recently come across it. I don't know much about it, but wanted to know if you've heard of it. @Flutterbug9

Re: We are all just walking each other home

I like 'intelligent conversations' @Appleblossom . Glad you feed on some of these lol.

I've just realised that all the books I'm reading at the moment are non-fiction. And I just completed an online quiz from a member, and the result was that I was showing strong ASD traits. LOL. I've been wondering recently whether I was autistic. I guess we all have our own quirks.

As for the thesis to understand humans... not sure if anyone ever will. I reckon humans are being studied more and more with the pace of technology - to the point that it's scary. The way that AI is replicating human behaviour is phenomenal. I only read this article today about AI bringing back the dead: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2026-04-17/as-deep-as-the-grave-filmmakers-defend-use-ai-val-kilmer/106576814

Pretty scary...

@Appleblossom @Flutterbug9 @tyme @Jynx @AlwaysMyself @MatchaToad

Hi all,

I love this for us. Look at me bringing people together.

MatchaToad - I was using "annoying" in the most love infused way. Like, perfection without external effort hahaha. I hope this finds you well.

Appleblossom - I am well thank you. I'm a simple man, duality means us and them. Non-duality means us.

I speak to people like I am meeting a version of myself that I have not met before. My core belief is love everyone and tell the truth because I am you and you am I.

For example, if im robbed by a friend, I would say I love you, now get out of my life and never come back you rotton thief (I'm paraphrasing).

I hope you are well.

AlwaysMyself - Thank you for your kind words. I think my Ritalin takes away my ability to think non-linearly in a pure sense. I'm only now being medicated at 50+ and I am conditioned to think non-linearly but it is harder and needs to be forced when I'm medicated. I'll go unmedicated when I want an unobstructed view of the absurdity of it all 😁.

And a big hug to all I didn't mention. 🙂 Be Well.

@tyme

Thanks for sharing.

I have a strange relationship with loneliness. In that I have never not been lonely. I see most people being together but still completely isolated from each other. I think company is just a distraction from loneliness.

That until we (society) learn to properly communicate and tolerate each other everyone is isolated. Except me, ironically, because I'll tell people exactly who I am and what I want. And, people hate it hahaha.

Hope you are good.
