Depression- Really Struggling- may be triggering

Depression- Really Struggling- may be triggering

I realise how little i mean to people. i mean nothing.
its abit like walking down a long dark street never knowing when a light might flick on to show me the way or give me some hope.
im tired of trying. tired of hoping. tired of coping. tired of exisiting. tired of breathing. i think im done.
dear everyone that knows me, im sorry im such a disapointment. im sorry i cant live up to your expectations. im sorry i was born. im sorry if ive hurt you. im sorry if ive made you miserable. i deserve all the blame and hatred i have gotten. everything is my fault and im sorry.
im locked within the walls of my own minds and i just cant escape it.
Pain. Pain all the time. It runs through my veins a fast flowing river with nothing there to stop it.
Just get over it they say. i wish i could, im living minute by minute, hour by hour, day by day. im struggling with memories that haunt me everyday and i dont think they will ever fade.
my thoughts are overwhelming and what hurts me the most is when people pretend to care but really they dont.
im so scared. things just arent the same anymore. im not doing anything right anymore. ive lsot myself, the person i once knew isnt here anymore. i dont know what to do anymore. i feel like i dont belong here or in reality. no where. i have constant feelings of being unworthy and hopeless, of being a prisioner in my own body.
i have so much pain physically and mentally. i try to stay happy. i try to keep smiling. i try to be brave. i try to be stong. i try to act like everything is ok but im far from it.
i never know when im going to have a 'good' day and at any minute im triggered and takes such a long time to recover.
there are monsters living inside me, attacking me, ripping me apart from the inside. i dont think its ever going to end
but its ok "ill just have to get over it" just as expected

@Former-Member what would you make of this reply?

Re: Depression- Really Struggling- may be triggering

Hi @Former-Member, I'm just jumping on and then jumping off the forum super quickly (reward for having ticked something off my to-do list). That sounds like a pretty clear and reasonable response from your psychologist. To me the thing that jumped out is that she said she believes you. Not being believed (or heard) is one of my super giant triggers so conversely, having someone say "I believe you" is super calming and reassuring for me. It also jumped out at me that she is saying she is working at getting a clearer picture. I would find that validating, knowing she was working hard at trying to get a sense of what is going on. Of course, this is just how I would experience the email based on my muddle. Your experience of it may be entirely different...which I guess goes to show how subjective things can be! Furthermore, I know I can experience exactly the same statements differently at different times depending on my own mood. Sometimes an email will be super gigantically triggering and I will go into total crisis...and then when I read it later in a calmer state, I realise that the big feelings were due to stuff going on inside of me, rather than related to what the person actually said.

Regarding the no email communication, that is one of those big muddles (for me at least) regarding boundaries. I am grateful that my psychologist and I have FINALLY found a happy compromise that meets my need for contact and her need to not get overwhelmed with my muddle. Our rules are one email per week and two voice messages which can be up to 3 minutes each. During my adventures of therapist shopping last year, I found that psychologists vary A LOT regarding what sort of between-session contact they offer. I find writing stuff down super helpful when I can't contact my psychologist. I then take what I've written to the next session with me. Some of the therapists that I sacked last year didn't appreciate me rocking up with pages of writing. They seemed to see it as a waste of time reading what I had to say. That didn't work for me, given that I communicate much more effectively in writing than verbally.

So...that's my thoughts about the email. I wonder what your own thoughts are @Former-Member???

Re: Depression- Really Struggling- may be triggering

Well said @Phoenix_Rising ..... and I agree @Former-Member .... especially the emailing ..... therapists can become overwhelmed with a bombardment of emails, especially if they are long, and especially if it's not just you doing that ....

It does sauna like she is listening, and yes, therapists do point out when our body language doesn't match the mood of what we are saying, because that is a habit that can develop and it's very confusing for everyone we are interacting with .... body language, whether conscious or unconscious, is a natural part of communication. Some people laugh when they are angry, or constantly cry when they are happy, and these things need to be corrected and "normalised" ..... often it's enough to just have them pointed out to us .... sometimes therapy is required to create the right sort of balance.

Re: Depression- Really Struggling- may be triggering

thanks @Faith-and-Hope@Phoenix_Rising

so i get the standards and boundaries shes setting are ok, glad i got that cleared up.

but i dont want to go back to her, i felt i was very judged and she wasnt listening to me when i was saying can we change the subject. im too on edge around her now and really uncomfortable... i think maybe i should change as i spoke to another counsellor through this program the other day when mine wasnt there and i quite liked her

what would you guys do if you felt you were going around and around and feel really uncomfortable with thsi but felt a connection between another counsellor?

Re: Depression- Really Struggling- may be triggering

There's no need to worry about the phone call right at this minute @Former-Member. Study might not work out today, but perhaps you could get the kids to quiz you? 2 birds with 1 stone? I saw that you had a great schedule planned out, but the good thing about schedules is that they can be adjusted and you'll know exactly what's been moved to when. You can only do what you can do. I like to use the "how much will this matter in 5yrs?" test when I'm worrying about getting something done. Where do you think this would fit in a 5yr test?
