I spent a number of years as a medical transcriptionist. I don't work in the medical field anymore though, these days I'm just a lowly pensioner.

They're awesome careers @Former-Member. Your plan to get a general idea of it all first is a great way to start!

Re: I think i just flipped it!!!

the certificate that im doing isnt quite a uni degree but i can still use it for many fields including reception work or working as a wardmen in a hospital but id prefer to keep on studying as i am working currently but want to continue to expand my knowledge.

i love expanding my knowldge all the time.

ill eventually find myself again i think and hopefully ill be new and improved.

with my course do you think i should make my mentor aware of my mental health... the only thing is i dont want them to think different about me or pity me do you think they will?

Re: I think i just flipped it!!!

I divulged my mental health issues to my teachers at Tafe and found they were supportive and put me in touch with added student services to help support me throughout my courses. University is the same, student services can help support you through the duration of your studies. Having said that however, it is tricky whether or not you divulge any mental health concern to an employer. Equal employment opportunity and anti-discrimination legislation says you should be ok, but my experience employers frown upon it and treat you very differently. It is your personal choice however.
