Something’s not right

I need a friend. I'm so lonely and tired :'(

I need a friend. I'm so lonely and tired :'(

I used to have many many friends. I thrived on friendship.

Over the years they started to seperate away from me.

I would try to see them but bit by bit they stopped wanting to see me. Especially when I got completely sober years ago.

These were my people. I dont have a partner for medical reasons I dont want to discuss.

Now I have nobody.

I don't want a pen pal, I think about playing an online game for interaction and then think why I will never see them in real life.

I need real interaction and I'm scared I will lose my will to live if I dont see people soon.

I have goals, ambitions but I need social interaction. The humanity in me wants it.

There's no social groups I find appealing. Like chess clubs or board game clubs.

Plus my chronic pain makes it so hard to attend.

I think I'm running out of time 😞

Re: I need a friend. I'm so lonely and tired :'(

@tyme You're right maybe they havn't commited even after 10 years or are lying for personal reasons to me about wanting to be my friend.

However that puts me back at the main reason for the discussion. I have no friends, feel exiled and am lonely.

A life without a face to face interaction and friend(which I believe to be a natural human experience) is not a life worth living(again for a rational human).

This is wrong on so many levels and only in the last 60 years has started to become accepted. I dont accept it. Staring at pixels on a screen is not a natural way to communicate. It should be used to enhance the experience not be the only experience.

I totally agree with you @Surfs-Up-88

So where to from here?

What is the next step within your realm of control that you can take to see things change? (I don't expect your 'friends' to suddenly come to you, right?)

@tyme I guess I move on from those people. Don't message them anymore as to not feel dissapointed.

Try with my chronic pain to get out. I can't commit to scheduled meetings but the last 2 days I have in my own time been able to get to the library and read for 2 hours.

It's the closest thing I have to people at the moment. I still don't talk to anyone but I'm hoping soon I can find something I can attend with my chronic pain restraints and timing.

Do you have groups and sessions at your library @Surfs-Up-88 ?

My local libraries run activities every day of the week - morning, noon and night.

They have coffee and chat, book clubs, Maker space projects, movie nights, resume writing sessions - and these are all free of charge.

Is this an option for you?

@tyme I'll have to look into it I'm unsure.

But your library sounds awesome!

Thanks for the help 🙂

I also have a community neighbourhood house which is a hub for all free activities. I used to go salsa dancing there every week. They have boxing, yoga, walking football, craft sessions, painting, walking sessions @Surfs-Up-88 My library has. Libraries After Dark program which is funded to support those affected by gambling. However, it is open to all. I did a watercolour painting course with them. I've also done 3D printing, cricut sessions etc. They go for a few hours in the evenings.. up until 8pm or so, then they have tea/coffee and snacks after 🙂

Sometimes, if you look on your council website they may have a link to services in your area.

I have a lot in my area, but I'm in Melb so it may be very different for those in other areas.

When I had case management for my mental health, I had a psychosocial support worker. She linked me in with a lot of community supports/activities. It was really cool. I still stay connected with some of the people I met during my MH journey.

Let me know how you go. I look forward to hearing how it goes for you.

Hey @Surfs-Up-88 ,

How are you today?

I was going to ask, what sort of books do you like to read?

Re: I need a friend. I'm so lonely and tired :'(

@tyme Hey I'm very sore after the last 2 days at the library but just finally got to shower so feeling fresh and happy due to that. Next up the dishes in abit.

Thanks for checking in. At the moment I'm reading a few books. Mainly 'mans search for meaning' about a holocaust survivor and psychiatrist.

I do prefer non fiction.

Though I do have waiting on hold hitchhikers guide to the galaxy.

I'm also reading' surrounded by psychopaths' to help me deal with people who have hurt me, avoid them and current housemates.

I also have been reading little bits of the deltora quest series. Catching up from when I was a kid lol

How are you today?

Re: I need a friend. I'm so lonely and tired :'(

I'm very well. Thanks for asking.

Pretty cool with your book selection because they are the exact kind of books I read! My 10 year old nice has the same choices too. She loves reading about the holocaust. I have to filter the books though because of the probable content. I wish they had a rating system for books.

I recently re-read Boy in the Striped Pyjamas. I'm in the process of reading Alexander Altmann A10567. I also read The Happiest Man on Earth.

I found Sociopath: A memoir such an eye opener of a book. It was amazing to read.

A Night Divided was an easy read - about the Berlin Wall.

So yeah... looks like we have this in common @Surfs-Up-88 🙂

Also, sorry to hear about your pain. Must be a downer.
