Welcome and getting started

Schizoaffective, ADHD, OCD, Anxiety, Major Depression

Hi, new member here who was diagnosed with Paranoid Schizopherina about 5 years ago then changed to schizoaffective disorder (with Major depression) and now also OCD and ADHD. Trying to find others with schizoaffective disorder to discuss things with like how the cope, strategies and make new friends with similar things going on.

I was diagnosed early 30's and the start on Covid.

I manage to work a full time job and hold down a second job on my days off from my full time job. I find it distracts me from what's going on in my mind although sometimes is can be very overwhelming and the hallucinations happen at work more and more frequently. Not sure I'm doing the right thing.

I don't know anyone with SAD except for the great folk in this Forum. My family don't take it seriously or ask about how I'm really going in life with SAD, they are unaware of my ADHD diagnosis.

I struggle with Alcohol addiction also as that helps me escape reality and sleep better (not making excuses) but that's what I use it for personally. Would not recommend it.

Thanks for the reply! Yes somehow I hold down my full time job and have recently been made permanent at my second job. Both jobs for me are fairly low stress which helps I believe. Somedays I wonder how I hold down two jobs and have done for just over 10 straight years.

I believe I may be in Psychosis as I have visual hallucinations daily and auditory every other day basically.

Somedays are harder then others for me I find. I have been beyond lucky to hold down both my jobs throughout the process of being diagnosed and trying different medications.

I do try to follow my medication directions. I was told to take my meds once a day prior to bed, I find taking half the dose ever 12hrs works amazingly for me. I told my psychologist what I was doing with the meds and he wasn't phased as long as it worked for me.

As for the drinking, I find it helps to calm my mind and release some ocd tendencies. Most definitely not condoning what I'm doing. I know I need to set a limit or ever better, give it up.
