Talking through trauma and PTSD

The me no one knows - SI warning

The me no one knows - SI warning

I’ve made this space to have somewhere safe to talk and share things.

to chat with every one who has shown concern about and for me.

I have spent almost all my life masking, from as far back as primary school (possibly younger).

almost no one knows the real me. Not sure if I even know the real me.

my past is filled with lots of darkness. People I’ve tried to speak with during my life either don’t believe me or don’t want to know

@AlwaysMyself @Bunniekins @Captain24 @Cuddlebear @rav3n @Jynx

hiding behind the mask pretending nothing is wrong. Putting on brave face whilst inside I’m a shattered pieces. Feeling lost and completely alone. No one wants anything to do with me. Relatives only contact when they want something. Going to bed every night hoping to never wake again

Hi everyone,

Just a gentle reminder to all that threads are shared community spaces where anyone can offer support or respond with their own experiences within our guidelines.

It's understandable that feelings can come up when conversations shift and I hear that, so let's continue encouraging one another to engage with care and respect.

@Flutterbug9 Hello lovely how are you?

This is a thread you’re very welcome to tag and chat. @AlwaysMyself @has always said that the thread is for everyone and we want you to be here and feel welcomed.

The only reason I’ve been quiet is because I’m so sick. I’m struggling badly and have been unable to do anything including forums.

I have not seen your post on the thread I started but I want you to know I will check when I’m more stable today.

Please don’t go. I really love hearing from you and you matter to me.

@Captain24 Hello lovely how are you?

I am really sorry you are struggle badly too. Do you have any support outside of the forums? Is there anything you’d want to talk about? I know how hard it is to struggle and to find the days hard.

im really sorry to hear your fur baby has diabetes. This must have made you feel sad too. How are they doing?

Re: The me no one knows - SI warning

@AlwaysMyself Hello lovely 🙂 How are you doing?

It’s been really hard. NDIS won’t help it’s just not an option.

I’ve really felt the loss of mental health support services. Coupled with chronic illness it has really caused me a lot of mental health decline. I’m trying hard but it’s so heavy getting through each day. Having supportive people here is critical for me. And in return I too try to support people as well.

Im in constant panic and so fatigued from each day from the moment I wake up the panic goes off like a rocket.

There’s so many people struggling in forums too I can see that. I can see your journey is also not east and I recognise and am so proud of you for pushing through.

@AlwaysMyself Hello sweet how are you?

Yes it was hard news. It was honestly the last thing I needed right now especially after the dental news. I really don’t know how I’ll get through it all but I’ll try my best.

I wish we could exchange details but I know we can’t. The thought that you would means the world to me.

I really appreciate the support you give here. It’s really very helpful to have you care enough to post to me and to provide caring replies.

Hi @Cuddlebear

Things are still pretty bad. I’ve shut down and I’m detached from everything. I have no energy or motivation for anything, including life.

I have a really good GP and an absolutely amazing psych. I also have a Pdoc but I don’t know her very well yet. I’ve only seen her a couple of times and the last time was 6 months ago. I’ll see her in just over a week.

It’s hard, I’m heartbroken for her. Her life changed in an instant. No more treats, no more little bits and I have to transition her form 3 meals a day to 2. Plus needles morning and night. She is really good orientated and gets really excited for treats. Now Jett misses out as well but it’s not as hard on him as he isn’t food orientated.

How are things going for you? How are you coping with all your medical stuff?

Re: The me no one knows - SI warning

@Captain24 Hello there my friend.

I understand the shutdown and having no motivation even for life. It is a terrible place to be and my nervous system is also in shutdown so I understand how hard it is. I don’t know what advice to give to help in recovery as I’m stuck and the things suggested havnt worked. I’m here to talk though and provide understanding, empathy and compassion.

I am glad you have a good GP and psychologist. That makes a big difference. I’m trying to find a psychologist and my GP isnt very good with mental health … What is a Pdoc?

I know that your fur babies are your family and the news of one having diabetes would have really been hard to take in. It sounds like you are doing everyrhing you can treatment wise and that they will be OK. I remember you missing them not long ago and how happy you were when you got back home to them.

Im not coping. I’m in total shutdown with severe panic. I don’t have a support system and things are real tough. I’m getting through second by second at the moment. There’s no joy in anything.

Re: The me no one knows - SI warning

Hi @Cuddlebear ,

Being in that kind of shutdown and panic can feel exhausting and isolating, especially when it feels like you're facing it without much support around you.

You mentioned that you are currently looking for a psychologist. The Australian Psychological Society (APS) has a Directory of psychologists where you can search for psychologists in your area and filter based on your needs. I hear that your GP hasn't been great with the mental health side of things, but they can at least refer you to a psychologist with a mental health support plan.

You also mentioned not coping and being in shutdown with severe panic. If things start to feel overwhelming or you don't feel safe with your thoughts at any point, please reach out to immediate support. You can contact: Lifeline - 13 11 14 or Suicide Call BACK Service - 1300 659 467.

You support others so beautifully here, and you deserve support too.
You aren't alone in this, and you don't have to face this alone either.💛

Re: The me no one knows - SI warning

Sorry @Cuddlebear @I’ve just woken up.

It’s horrible and I’m sorry you are in it too. My psych said I just need to ride it out and it should slowly improve. I’m still waiting! She has been trying to get me to do little things such as, if I’m going to sit in the lounge and stare at the wall, go to the other lounge room to change it up a bit. Do little things off my safety plan, easy little ones that can help with a little grounding. My GP though, says I need to push myself really hard to do things. So it’s pretty conflicting information.

A Pdoc is a psychiatrist. I’m sorry that they aren’t great with MH my GP has

lived experience, so does my psych. Are you open to Telehealth for appointments? @moderator am I allowed to suggest an online group?

I missed her so much while she was in hospital. As soon as we can get her meals and insulin right she will be good but at this stage we are only in the beginning stages, so a lot more vet visits and stays and a lot more money!!! I will do everything I need to for her!

O totally here the no joy. I’m not really finding joy in my babies even though I love them so intensely. Nothing brings joy. I’m sorry about the state of panic. That must be really hard to add to the shutdown. I’m numb to pretty much everything. But I don’t get panicked a lot so I’m sure it’s really hard to have to sit with.

Hi @Captain24 ,

Thank you for checking in about this, it's much appreciated! Whilst members aren't able to recommend / endorse specific groups largely due to privacy guidelines, you can share more general resources that may help people explore what supports feel right for them, and online peer support groups are a wonderful suggestion.

It's really valuable to share what has helped in your own experiences, so thank you.
