Talking through trauma and PTSD

The me no one knows - SI warning

The me no one knows - SI warning

I’ve made this space to have somewhere safe to talk and share things.

to chat with every one who has shown concern about and for me.

I have spent almost all my life masking, from as far back as primary school (possibly younger).

almost no one knows the real me. Not sure if I even know the real me.

my past is filled with lots of darkness. People I’ve tried to speak with during my life either don’t believe me or don’t want to know

@AlwaysMyself @Bunniekins @Captain24 @Cuddlebear @rav3n @Jynx

hiding behind the mask pretending nothing is wrong. Putting on brave face whilst inside I’m a shattered pieces. Feeling lost and completely alone. No one wants anything to do with me. Relatives only contact when they want something. Going to bed every night hoping to never wake again

Good to hear having the list of things was helpful @Cuddlebear

Sorry to hear of the distress and anxiety the results have caused. Completely understandable that you are feeling the way you are. Lot of information to take in and process. concerns about possible outcomes and risk 100% normal.

sounds like you and the medical staff are doing everything possible. You have appointment with your vascular surgeon which is a huge positive. Do you think you might make a list of things you want to discuss with them plus your concerns?

If you spend time in hospital will Wilbur be able to be with you all the time?

You are always on my mind. Will be especially thinking of you during the coming weeks. If I could I’d be with you side by side, helping you with whatever is needed.

As I can’t be, I’m sending lots of virtual hugs 🤗 🤗🤗

*insert support button* @Flutterbug9 (my button isnt working on phone currently). I love that you do talk things out with me and clarify 🥰. I am also really impressed when this wasnt always the case - but you had insight to see what was happening with less people to connect with and decided to learn to change this! Thats impressive and great - because a lot of people don't. 🥰

Also *insert support button* for @Cuddlebear .

I'm glad the dentist that you was was a good person and looked after you well 🥰. Its a shame they can't do the required dental work too, being that it would be lovely to have a dentist you've already met and felt OK with. But hopefully the one you get in the city will be good also, and maybe this positive-person experience can help in the lead up to that appointment.

Are they able to do multiple teeth repair work and/or extractions at the one time?

I'm glad they have considered the PAD & thallasema and are consulting first with your specialist -- shows they are thinking carefully and not ignoring the complications 😊.

I guess its good you have an upcoming appt with the specialist too as you can also chat to them about the dental surgery concerns?

I know things are so hard right now @Cuddlebear , and can feel like everything comes at once. One day at a time? One week at a time?

@AlwaysMyself

Such excellent advice re dentist. I responded to Flutterbug and yourself earlier so won’t repeat here.

it’s hot in Victoria again so stuck indoors. It’s just so hard for poor Wilbur as I can’t take him out in this sort of heat.

My surgeon is very very good. He has a gentle bedside manner is empathetic and understands the worry. That is a huge relief. When I see him I’m anxious and trauma symptoms but not from him just that the disease I have is progressive and each time I’m tested you don’t know what will turn up. Both my legs have the artery disease and this illness requires multiple high risk surgeries and amputations. So it’s quite scary going but he is very good with working with me. He will have some additional stuff this visit due to dental surgery which will complicate things with the disease.

Im glad there’s at least one place with aircon in the cafe where you can take the dogs too. There’s none with aircon near me only heating. I’d love a dog run with aircon I could access for him. But it’s not a thing here. Was the cafe good?

I hope you’re having a good day.

As I said to @tyme, think it works well with @Cuddlebear and the 2 of us as all 3 are ok with taking the step of talking things through, whatever it is.

Yes they were good so was the nurse. My support worker translated for me. My leg was shaking from being scared so my support worker hekp my hand too. I do hope the specialist dentist is as kind and understanding. That they explain what’s going to happen as that also helps. I can only have 1 tooth done at a time to minimise complications. There’s not enough blood too getting to teeth due to the PAD so multiple wounds trying to heal is higher complications. If the wounds can’t heal it can be a catastrophe.

Im waiting for an appointment as it’s public havnt got a date yet. But I do have a lot of questions. Some for vascular surgeon too. The public dental in city is attached to a major hospital so they can deal with anything that comes up. It’s so hard not to worry though. A lot can go wrong and I won’t have anyone to take care of me when I get home.

At the moment I’m doing second by second. Anything medical that comes up just impact me more. If I didn’t have PAD and thallasemia it would be less complicated. But my brain is in overdrive and my nervous system is shutdown so anything new to deal with just really adds to everything I’m feeling.

Awww @Cuddlebear , you are so brave. We are holding your hand. It sounds like a really stressful time.

I wish I could take the stress away from you.

Re: The me no one knows - SI warning

@Flutterbug9 Yes it’s understandable I guess most people would be worried. Unfortunately in my current state of mental health this was the last thing I needed.

I will write a list for the appointment with vascular surgeon. Otherwise I’ll forget things while I’m there 🙂 Same will apply with dental specialist.

Wilbur is allowed to stay in hospital with me. I’ll need to be able to take him down for toileting though. Usually due to having a seeing guide dog they give you your own room. That’s what’s happened in the past. Longest I’ve been in is 5 weeks and my dog was with me. I really don’t want to be separated from him at all. He can help me get to toilet and shower etc. plus just take walks around the ward. Also very good for comfort and feelings of safety.

I’ll keep you informed as things progress. Thank you for all your love and support.
