General chit chat

Hi@Faith-and-Hope, @utopia, @Mazarita

I'm still not very good at 'navagating' this site, maybe that's why I kept trying 'instant' chat sites - they seemed easier. But I like that messages can be checked, that it's not instant feels like some sort of barrier against instant shock I suppose - though I know this is a public Internet site so anyone can use it. I also think, though I hate the term Mental Illness, as I think it takes all the physical out of it, that the people that cause trauma probably suffer from it, so they would have just as much right to use it. But I feel a bit like typing I think, so I thought I might just blurb a little?
I've went away for a few days. I go every month. I visit the center of my Universe 🙂 The one person who has been there with/for me, their whole life & I believe will remain that way until I die 🙂 . . . & quite the large Family they have provided for me to share in 🙂 I go from, it almost seems like another Planet sometimes, my life is very quiet; to the center of my Universe, which includes 5 grand-children ranging in age from almost 2 to, going on 18; then there's the partner, the partners Parents and a large variety of friends 🙂 I often find myself thinking 'alein sound dimension' - there's so much noise on so many different levels! Every single one of them has every gadget known to mankind, and most of those gadgets make noise! And my World is a lot calmer, with a lot less going on - we're usually driving in the car, taking children to school, doing whatever shopping is necessary for the day in time for whatever seemingly endless appointment is due, . . . by the time my alarm goes off to make sure I wake up in time to get tired in time to go to sleep in time 😄 There's no way I could keep that pace up anymore! After a few days I find myself almost running away with my tail between my legs 🙂 But it's the perfect balance really, I do spend a lot of time alone - apart from my 3 furry, four-legged friends; but I am extremely lucky, my bond with my only child is of a strength I can't see breaking; I get a phone call or text every night & welcomed by a dozen open arms and smiling faces every month. I am lucky, I have a good life. Well, I think life is just a word, neither good nor bad. I have good experiences and I am happy 🙂

Good night @outlander

Hello Outlander,
I'm doing great Thanks. I have had a muddled head {but that's nothing unusual :D} , but there's nothing to worry about - Thank-you for caring though ❤️
I know you have been doing it tough and really struggling. I hope your feeling ok now, sending you lots of love and hugs. I'm honoured that you feel good reason to be closer to me. I have been chatting with you since I first found this forum and feel a bound of sharing a knowing with you ❤️
I've been up, down, around and around, but I'm really quite excited at the moment 🙂 I've been wanting to go somewhere other than my backyard for a couple of years at least . . . I've booked and paid for (I was able to do all that online) a campsite by a river on Sunday 😄 I've booked just the night, but can book another whilst there if I choose. So today I've been playing 'fit the big ol' woolen underblanket in to line the canopy of my ute; and place some ties on the new tarp I bought to cover the car; and try not to pack to much stuff 😄 🙂
I want to hear more about you too 🙂

Re: General chit chat

Good morning, @Former-Member, late rise for me today. Not due to late night, so still seems an improvement on the old night owl habits, though I continue to sleep many more hours in the day than seems 'normal'. Going with it for now. I tend to agree with you that I'm still recovering from May when:

  • I had a virus that led to a bad three-week headache
  • we were told the flat was being sold
  • mum arrived from interstate and I went on an emotional rollercoaster with her
  • I got a mysterious black eye and big bruise on thigh (probably hurting myself without realising)
  • I did a lot of cleaning for sales inspections
  • I got something that may or may not have been shingles and had a course of anti-virals
  • we were told flat is not being sold for now after all
  • two of my real life friends became suicidal
  • my companion's job became suddenly in the balance
  • I pulled muscles in neck and ankle and was in daily pain.

In between all that, there was good stuff with the videos that I barely had time to appreciate. What a month, May 2017 was here!

But your news is much brighter! How great to hear you readying yourself for your solo camping trip! I love that you too have patient dishes, lol. 'Whatever' seems like a good way of approaching things sometimes, saves on anxiety, hehe (but try telling that to that nagging voice that always chips away at me if I haven't got things perfect).

It was an okay day yesterday and I'm hoping for even better today. Will be heading off to friend's place again fairly soon to spend a little time there while she's away. No plans for later yet. Another gorgeous sun day here, though with a bit of winter chill.

Sending hugs and good stuff for the day to you and @outlander and @Faith-and-Hope and anyone else who reads this thread!

Re: General chit chat

Hello @Shaz51 @Mazarita @outlander @Former-Member @Faith-and-Hope and everyone else who pops in. I am always inspired by how much you all manage to pull through despite how much you have going on even when you are struggling. I tend to stay away which in turn makes me feel even more isolated so maybe I should try doing the opposite. I popped in a few days ago to say Hi but didn't mention that last week was a challenge and stayoing out of hospital became an achievment for me. This week is better though and each time I try to put a few more safety plans in place for the future.

Today I am swamping my brain with study notes which actually helps me alot... well when I'm travelling o.k that is. Daily tasks can be such big achievments at time and it takes more strength and resilience to get through things which would be tough at the best of times.

I hope you are all having some enjoyable or at least meaningful time this weekend. My recliner chair and my laptop are my best friends today... and now you guys of course 🙂

Re: General chit chat

good afternoon @MissG

Before I found the Sane forum , i was getting more isolated as my Husband has clinical depression, mayor depression and inherited depression all his life , crying at a drop of a hat , no support until mr shaz took himself to hospital and I found the sane forum in a book when i was staying at the red cross in the bigger city which was 60 kms away

when i came on here it took me a little while to talk about things

we did food shopping this morning for us and my mum, so i am on the computer on with a cuppa

Re: General chit chat

@Shaz51thanks for your reply 🙂 I read about your morning on another post... sounds quite productive you deserve the cuppa/pc combo now for sure.

Last week I had an anaesthetic and didn't realise how much it cpould throw out the balance of my medications which I now realise in hindsight (aargh hindsight). Anyway I shall be more prepared if I need one in the future. Trying to take things day by day or even moment by moment would probably help but it's hard not to feel like you're 'drowning in it'.

My son (16) has to work this evening so doing the 'mum taxi' thing will keep me grounded. On the upside because he works at a food place I won't have to cook yay
