General chit chat

Hi@Faith-and-Hope, @utopia, @Mazarita

I'm still not very good at 'navagating' this site, maybe that's why I kept trying 'instant' chat sites - they seemed easier. But I like that messages can be checked, that it's not instant feels like some sort of barrier against instant shock I suppose - though I know this is a public Internet site so anyone can use it. I also think, though I hate the term Mental Illness, as I think it takes all the physical out of it, that the people that cause trauma probably suffer from it, so they would have just as much right to use it. But I feel a bit like typing I think, so I thought I might just blurb a little?
I've went away for a few days. I go every month. I visit the center of my Universe 🙂 The one person who has been there with/for me, their whole life & I believe will remain that way until I die 🙂 . . . & quite the large Family they have provided for me to share in 🙂 I go from, it almost seems like another Planet sometimes, my life is very quiet; to the center of my Universe, which includes 5 grand-children ranging in age from almost 2 to, going on 18; then there's the partner, the partners Parents and a large variety of friends 🙂 I often find myself thinking 'alein sound dimension' - there's so much noise on so many different levels! Every single one of them has every gadget known to mankind, and most of those gadgets make noise! And my World is a lot calmer, with a lot less going on - we're usually driving in the car, taking children to school, doing whatever shopping is necessary for the day in time for whatever seemingly endless appointment is due, . . . by the time my alarm goes off to make sure I wake up in time to get tired in time to go to sleep in time 😄 There's no way I could keep that pace up anymore! After a few days I find myself almost running away with my tail between my legs 🙂 But it's the perfect balance really, I do spend a lot of time alone - apart from my 3 furry, four-legged friends; but I am extremely lucky, my bond with my only child is of a strength I can't see breaking; I get a phone call or text every night & welcomed by a dozen open arms and smiling faces every month. I am lucky, I have a good life. Well, I think life is just a word, neither good nor bad. I have good experiences and I am happy 🙂

Re: General chit chat

I see that very clearly @Former-Member, and you have articulated it so well ......

I could see the hard-wiring like that in my hubby’s family when we met ..... only he seemed different ...... like he had dodged that wiring somehow.

His family then “activated” it to some degree after we married, but through both heathy discussions and quasi-heathy spats, we had managed to resolve the issues between us as we went along, and as such, we were still living beyond the wiring ......

Perhaps the workaholism was an embodiment of it that I did t recognise at the time ..... it was always presented as necessary tot he survival of the business, and it probably was ..... but in hindsight I believe that industry (and there will be others) attracts and rewards workaholics. It wasn’t exactly a choice though ..... this was the industry he was born into and at that stage, they didn’t k is how to live beyond it.

Scroll forward and a mid-life crisis has produced some sort of identity crisis, and the wiring activated on a power surge ..... who could know ??

Some of us are sufferers, and some of us are mainstays ..... both affected, but held in bonds of faith and hope ......

Keep your sails set ..... and faith and hope over them all, all your days @Former-Member ...... just remember to faith and hope over yourself too Hon ...... like you did with setting your GPS and homing in on that beach ..... ❣️

Looove that you’ve got an oilskin ..... 🤗

Re: General chit chat

Hi Niqua, responding a bit more now to your earlier post. That is a long trip for just one night, ten hours travelling (maybe more with your sidetrip to the beach?). So glad you managed the chaos and especially that there were special moments of love between you and your child, and even her partner (though I somehow resent him for the money stuff so that clouds my feelings towards him). Good that you got a room to sleep in with the dogs this time, seems only fair.

It's also great that you had ways of managing the party situation, by sitting in a corner and taking in the scene (even if kind of blurry), and making quite a few trips outside to check on the dogs. I've always liked corners and used to always take the back corner seats on the Melbourne trams if I could get them. Somehow felt safer that way, comforting to have a corner to nestle into. How lovely that you go around and say a special goodbye to everyone, and that you even did it with your errant eldest grandchild, though she may have been asleep.

My news a this point of today is that I finished cleaning the bathroom and it looks great. Still a lot of jobs to do before the flat inspection, but feeling more confident that I can get it done by Friday now, taking it one small step at a time. I have all the cleaning jobs itemised in small units on a spreadsheet, so that I can tackle them one at a time and it doesn't feel so daunting. I may have read about doing that here on the forum and I find it works, at least some of the time.

The bonus today was that I also cooked us dinner for the first time in more than a year (possibly way more). Spiral pasta with tuna, garlic, parsley, lemon, butter and parmesan cheese. It's my favourite of the very few recipes I know how to cook and I remembered how to do it though I probably haven't done it for 10 years. And there are leftovers for us both to have for lunch tomorrow - it tastes good cold as a tuna salad too. It looked something like this.

Gotta say this new higher dose of anti-depressants is helping me a lot at the moment. Grateful for that mercy, even though I know it may not last forever.

Hugs and love to you, dear friend.

Re: General chit chat

Good Morning Mazy @Mazarita, Claire @outlander, @CheerBear, @Faith-and-Hope , @Shaz51 and Everyone 🙂

I'm so glad the new medication is helping Mazy If it's helping with motorvation it's a huge help, even if it settles down as your body 'gets used to' it.

I hadn't thought of it, but the beach thing would have made it a 7 - 71/2 hour journey to get up there! I hadn't noticed at the time . . . no wonder I was tired that night!

It was well worth it, The love seemed much better this time & my childs phone call last night was long and flowed freely 🙂

I remember when I went to school on a bus I was a 'back-seater', mainly because I lived a ways out of town; there were about half a dozen of us, the first ones to get on the bus (& we spent the longest on the bus) . . . we owned that back seat 😄

Hell, I wish I could get some of those pills & get into my housework - mines taking over me! But good on you, dang it must feel good 😄 And cooking a meal!!! Way to go girl!!! Oh, & your description of that pasta is absolutely yummy!!!!

Yep, housework - & it's kind of the bathroom that's my target . . . my washing machine is in there & somewhere under all the dirty clothes is the bathroom floor 😉

Do you remember I got better at all that stuff Mazy? I was doing well there for a little while. I want to get back to that.

Hey, with all this motorvation . . . . how's the rubber duckie going?

Love to you Mazy
