Self care by growing a garden

Self care by growing a garden

A SOS to any green thumbs out there

I have always found gardening to be therapeutic and it has given me great joy. However, after a major crisis with Mr Darcy's health I have not had been able to get back into it. Have other gardeners suffered from a similar hiatus and how have you recovered and got going again?

Darcy

PS have a spot that needs filling any recommendations for a 1m high cool climate white flower plant?

Blessed to have some rain yesterday, everything so dry. Noticed hottest o'night temps in SA last week, trust our croweater forum friends and pets coping. In my neighbourhood there have been a number of snake sightings.

Hi all.

We got some rain here last night too. There was a short but intense storm that went over, and dropped 20mm in less than an hour. The plants look a bit "happier" as a result.

No rain here, usually there's none during the Summer months - only during the Winter.

Just a short rainy season, when we get all our annual rainfall.

It's drier & hotter on the west-coast (except the far south-west corner).

We only get 1/2 to 2/3rds of the annual rainfall, that the east-coast gets.

Hot & scorched, or at least dry & scorched gardens (when it isn't hot)...

Adge

Got 1/2 that here @Smc but 10 mm still an adequate watering. Have you ever grown elephant garlic?

Re: Self care by growing a garden

@Former-Member I had some in the garden that I planted two autumns ago, but it died down and I lot track of it. I thought I'd lost it but a little bit of it came up again last autumn, so I've saved some in the hopes of regrowing it next year.

The garlic I bought today is Printanor. It's meant to be a very good one. We shall see.

I've also got Egyptian Walking Onions growing in a pot, saved from my Dad's old veggie garden. They're a fun vegetable.
