New to forum and grateful

Hi 👋 there

I am new to this forum and have been researching BPD after completing 2 modules of DBT at a mental health support clinic. I am recognising from the BPD description here that I really fit the categories described. I have had treatment for 20 years for anxiety driven depression, however it really resonates for me that BPD is probably more accurate. I have raised with my psychiatrist who is excellent however i feel my insight is seen as ‘tricky’ or ‘too complex’. I’m interested in joining conversations with those with lived experience of BPD and to thank all the brave people willing to talk about it. I would love to hear any tips for ACCEPTANCE and owning the condition, and to admit that I try DBT skills and tend to give up so hope to read stories from others of how they persist with DBT skills. Thank you 🙏

How's it all going? I'm mindful that finding support can be tough at this time of year. @CRyan @Mothlet

We're here if you need a chat or an ear to listen.

Thanks @tyme . It is my challenging time of year as kids on holidays etc. I’m grateful I have a good support network either psychologist and group to attend. I am finding I get into overwhelm on waking so trying to do a list of must do’s the night before and move when I wake up…. I feel like I am just hanging in there and thrm my 11 yr old has a meltdown and I go form a stress level of 3 to a 10.
my challenging is regulating her or trying to when I am already unregulated. Mornings are very tough for my mood, then needing to set up the day and I come across as stressed and find the day does improve however I dread the morning. It’s the toughest part of BPD for me- feeling overwhelmed as a parent and then consciously choosing a DBT skill in the moment. Wondering if you have any tips? Today I used acceptance as often as I could, accepting I can’t do as much planning as I would like, cutting back to minimal engagement with others, dropping Christmas gift planning for extended family and being okay with that and trying not to think it is all on my shoulders

I am proud to be alcohol free for 4 months and plan to do this now as the norm as it helps so much.

any tips for holidays and keeping well when the days are unstructured would be great.
Thank you again for reaching out

The audiobook I’m listening to has been helpful and is here:

The mindfulness solution for Intense Emotions by Cegar R Koons (quotes Marcia Lenahan) so any other tips / resources would be great @Mothlet @wondering if you relate to any of the above?
