Re: Friday Coffee and Chat -- 21st November 2025

@Appleblossom Yes we know our place sure turned out to be a place of respite and beauty. Finally does it begin to look like we wanted it to be 30 years ago. For when we bought the land we wanted to do hobby farming but we never end up doing this for i fell ill.

We are so glad we bought it for peanuts 30 years ago. All because it was rejected swamp land nobody wanted, because of the so called rising water levels. Yet we won the court case getting to build our house on it even though the Town council claimed at the time that in 20 years time our land would be 1/2 meter under water because of 'global warming. (They still named their unproven scare mongering at the time Global Warming instead of the much less obviously to see as wrong 'climate change' they do today.)

For we have lived here over near 30 years now, and know for sure our land is MUCH drier in Winter the last 5 years than it was the first 5 years! Which is completely contrary evidence to the nonsense they sprout on the media about Global rising water levels. However we blame less rain in Winter, for our land to be drier, for the sea level seems very much the same to us as 30 years ago, no way are the water levels really much higher than they were then.

However when we took them to court that had no evidence whatsoever of rising water levels. So we won and were allowed to build, although they forced us to put our house on a 3 meter high sand pad, which cost us almost as much as the land had cost us, and was 1 1/2 meters higher than we had budgeted for. So an extra 15,000 dollars of compacting sand fill would be needed. Which is the reason why we have so many up to 5 meters deep dams around our house, for that is where we got the fill from to build our house pad.

Interesting story about your land @DownMoreThanUp a hard road to hoe, but worth it, from what we can see. I first was aware of rising seas when I did earth science. Early 80s. I always noticed, but also realised there were many factors in soil absorption and the water cycles generally, so yes agree it did become scare mongering. I saw the farmer… urban leftie dynamics … ugh… politics…. I wish there was better discussion…. I still try and care for my area… whatever…

Did the council challenges contribute to your mental health issues?

I too am enjoying my established garden of over 20 years. Much much smaller…lol… they take a while to come into fruition…

Hugs @Shaz51 garden, singing and changing a booking for January due to coach replacement on an interstate train trip. I can’t do crazy bus trips going jaggedly all over the road, anymore. Wreck my neck. I don’t mean to be negative. Hope your spirit is strong. I know you have lots challenges.

gently bently

my neck condition is why I use that saying … its been 40 years

Re: Friday Coffee and Chat -- 21st November 2025

@Appleblossom Yes it was one of the many factors contributing to me falling sick. i think the adoption process of our Down syndrome daughter a few years before greatly trigger/unsettled the trauma memories within me. For our 'new daughter' suffered from every typical P.T.S.D symptom, and although i had not realized i did, or even knew a condition called C.P.T.S.D existed, i recognized that many of the symptoms in her, seeking for ways to deal with her difficult behaviours, as also being present in me.

Also working with mentally ill people at the time, not knowing i was, brought my own issues undeniable to the fore in the end. All of this on top of me self medicating, which had made my work possible in the first place, but i had only began doing 7 years before, after suffering an agonizing back injury for a few years got me to start using this drug, as well as these other events began unfolding.

At the time i self medicated without understanding what i was doing, or the REAL dangers doing so. Yet for 7 years i had successfully kept my raging alter, my paranoid alter, as well as my crippling depressive bouts, and best of all the evil voices, at bay. Although i did not really understand me self medicating had done this, or how this worked. For i erroneously thought at the time thaty the evil voices i my head were the devil and his mates, and i had to beat them, and now i had (finally) beaten them. This trapped me to think all was fine when it wasn't at all but i was a walking time bomb.

So a combination of these events in my life began unraveling the internal blockages, and inner lies i believed about myself. all the things i had set up dissociating my past trauma experiences. Not that i had not greatly struggled with my symptoms before, but had not related the true cause of these symptoms at the time. Or thought my internal processes were different compared to others because of past events.
