~ Toolshed 2: Power Tools for Recovery ~

Hey hi hello! Welcome to the second iteration of...

~ The Toolshed ~

I decided to make a new thread, as the first one had errors and phantom pages, and was getting quite long! You can still find all the amazing pics, inspiring quotes, and uplifting messages of the first Toolshed here.

What is the Toolshed? Ain't a place to hang your hammer! Hehe this is a space where we can share the things that have helped us in our recovery. Tools, coping skills, inspiring ideas, and messages of hope and growth, is what this space is all about!!

You can stay connected and up to date on this space by favouriting, or by subscribing to the thread - head to the top of the page, and find the three dots to the right of the thread title (next to the star), click, and from the drop down menu you can 'favourite' or 'subscribe' - and clicking the star itself will also favourite the thread for you.

Favourite threads are then always available in your favourites list which should appear on the right hand side of most forums pages - or you can go to your profile and scroll down to the 'Favourites' section under your recent posts.

If you subscribe, it means that you will get a notification every time someone posts something new in the thread. So up to you if you simply want it to be always accessible, or if you want all the updates, or both!

I invite anyone who wishes to contribute to do so! It doesn't have to be pictures, it can be discussion, questions, videos, whatever you like! So without further ado, here's my latest batch!

One huge weight off my mind this morning. Still dealing with others things, not feeling as bad as I was @MissGremlin @Cuddlebear @Chasingsunsets @AuntGlow @Bunniekins @heartathome @rav3n @AlwaysMyself

this morning I had initial appointment with new psychologist. She explained way she likes to do things, aligns with my preferences. Couple times I briefly summarised something, each time she asked if I am ok to tell her the full details. Majority of the time I found myself reminiscing and talking about happy times. Few times the psychologist asking me how the memories made me feel.
Next appointment plan is to start to focus on my goals in between her continuing to get to know me. Has said we will continue working together taking things slowly until I feel I can trust her, after that we will take things to another level.

That's wonderful news about your new psychologist @Flutterbug9 ! She sounds lovely! I'm glad you've found some kind of connection with her on the initial meeting. 💛

I had to laugh when I read your question @AuntGlow

Nice flashback of talking with the psychologist.

her wording was ‘how does (or did) that make you feel?’. Also ‘is it ok if I ask ……?’ ‘. Do you mind telling me more’.

I like her approach.

felt nice hearing her say ‘we’ at times. Gave me sense of being involved

at one point I said I had lost trust in previous psychologist plus was feeling wary and nervous about coming to appointment today. Straight away she said she was sorry to hear things had happened to cause me to lose my trust. Also acknowledged my concerns as normal and understandable. Acknowledged trust takes time to build and may take longer for me due to things that happened with previous psychologist

Re: ~ Toolshed 2: Power Tools for Recovery ~

Both psychologists are employed by same psychology firm @Chasingsunsets

Reading the wording under photo of each psychologist I kept going back to one specific one. Wording for my new psychologist. Wording that mentions helping identify goals and create change ….. safe place for people to explore their experiences

Nice @Flutterbug9, change can be good and by the sounds you weren’t feeling as supported with your last one. Have I got that right?
