All Things Sport...

All Things Sport...

There are many threads dedicated to sharing experiences - good times and not so good - so I thought I would start a thread for those on here who love their sport. For me - and I suspect for some others - sport is a good distraction as it often blocks out the more negative emotions and helps to avoid triggers that many other things in 'life' so often seem to do.

This thread can also be a place where like-minded (and not so like-minded people @utopia @Former-Member @Zoe7 lol) can 'discuss/debate' their respective competitions in their preferred sport(s).

For those that are definitely NOT into sport @Phoenix_Rising for example - avoid this thread at all costs - whoops just tagged you in..........hahaha!!!!!

Re: All Things Sport...

There have certainly been some unexpected wins by teams that you would not have thought would get as far as they did before the WC began. I really would have loved to see Belgium go that is soccer for you - 1 goal is the difference in such a big way. I think France must go in as favourite no matter who they play @frog but I would love to see either England or Croatia win it - I think England will make it through but if history is anything to go by then they may stumble against Croatia tonight - time will tell hey!

Are you getting up to watch @Zoe7?

Re: All Things Sport...

I am hoping for an early night so I may be able to get up to watch it @frog - but I am going to record it just in case I can't and watch it when I get up - it won't be the same as watching it live but if I can avoid all other media then I can pretend it is live. How about you - are you going to get up - 4am is early!

Hi @Zoe7 @frog @MDT @soul @Ant7 @NikNik

Zoe, for the soccer I will be going for England. Sorry Hamsolo. Frog, you of all people I would have thought would be going for The Frogs (France)?

Zoe you would have been happy about Brisbane Lions winning last weekend. Unfortunately my Swannies lost ... again. Two weeks in a row now. And 3 more injuries. Plus another one ruled out for the season. All happening at the wrong end of the season.

State of Origin tonight. Go Blues .... 3 / 0 , bring it on. How many times have the Canetoads done that to us over the years?

Sherry. 😃

Re: All Things Sport...

I would have thought the Frog would be going for France too @frog but instead she is fence-sitting lol

I was really pleased about our win @Former-Member - the baby lions really stood up and so did someof our more senior players - there certainly is a good future ahead if they continue to play like that. We have Hawthorn this week in Launceston but I can't go - the trip from Hobart is just too far for me - especially with my back the way it is - too much sitting makes it hurt more.

I think The Blues will make it 3-0 tonight but they will want to get off to a great start.

I am not much of a soccer fan sorry I lost interest when Australia went out.

So on a different subject anyone watching the origin tonight?

Does Anyone follow motoGP? Or Supercars?

😊😊😊

No interest in car racing @Ant7 but have origin on in the background.

Croatia to beat England, although an England and France final would be awesome. It's been a good world cup. Shame about the timing though. Still, Asia Cup next year. Here's hoping Australia retain it. My Welsh blood prevents me going for England everyday so go Croatia/France haha.
Not an NRL fan but 3 - 0 to NSW would be great to see.
Also watching the Tour de France as well. Tonight is meant to be a big night for it.

Re: All Things Sport...

Our Tassie boy Richie Porte is right up there in the Tour de france @MDT - I haven't been following it as closely this year but after his fall last year I hope he does really well.

I would love to see Croatia go through but I don't think they could beat France whereas I think England could - but this WC has thrown up so many surprises then who knows!!!

Re: All Things Sport...

@Ant7 I'm like you, with not a great passion for soccer. I also lost interest when Aussies were ousted. I still like to keep up with results, but havent watched any matches since Australias last one.

Oh yes, I am definitely watching the Origin tonight. Go the Blues. 💙

When it comes to motor racing, I have only a passing interest. But do watch Daniel Riccardo in the F1 occasionally.

Zoe sorry to hear you wont be able to travel to the footy this weekend. Hope the back is at least improving to where you were at last we spoke?

Sherry
