All Things Sport...

All Things Sport...

There are many threads dedicated to sharing experiences - good times and not so good - so I thought I would start a thread for those on here who love their sport. For me - and I suspect for some others - sport is a good distraction as it often blocks out the more negative emotions and helps to avoid triggers that many other things in 'life' so often seem to do.

This thread can also be a place where like-minded (and not so like-minded people @utopia @Former-Member @Zoe7 lol) can 'discuss/debate' their respective competitions in their preferred sport(s).

For those that are definitely NOT into sport @Phoenix_Rising for example - avoid this thread at all costs - whoops just tagged you in..........hahaha!!!!!

Re: All Things Sport...

I know my Lions are developing and showing glimpses of what they could be @Former-Member but there does come a time where we have to say that that isn't enough and we need to win a couple of these type of games. Beeing reduced to 23 players for most of the game had an impact but they still showed some heart today.

I am flicking between the rugby and AFL myself - the Bulldogs are doing ok so far - I hope they win ...and I hope Australia can get over Ireland and win the series 2-1.

Re: All Things Sport...

Yes I agree @Zoe7. That hit, leading elbow to the head, looked bad. Should result in a couple of weeks on the sideline for the GWS player. They need to look at the rules to better punish clear dirty play like that. Lions ended uo a man down most of the match, but GWS suffered no penalty for this match at all. Next weeks opponents will likely get a benfit, by a disqualification. But that doesnt help Lions. If a player is illegally taken out of the game like that and unable to come back on, the offending player should be sent off. Just a matter of fairness in my opinion. Maybe one day they will change the rules.

I agree @Former-Member - it doesn't affect their team until later weeks - methinks they need a yellow and red card system like the soccer - have always thought that. In our local league many, many years ago a player could be sent off if the infringement was severe but they could be replaced by another player - maybe they could have a similar thing for the AFL - they have plenty of avenues for replays to determine if the incident is enough for a send-off - or for a yellow or red card!

Re: All Things Sport...

Still following World Cup @Zoe7 @MDT @soul any other takers?

I'm enjoying it, though so many penalties is not ideal.

It's been so unpredictable!

Bit of a dilemma on the sleep front, as my mh is very sleep dependent.

Re: All Things Sport...

Still interested in the results but not watching much - my sleep has been all over the place lately so I need to get it back on track again. I will most likely watch the final though @frog

You know it @frog
But watching the games has been hard. I saw Argentina and France though. Bloody amazing. Was going for France. Other than that I have only see the first half of the midnight games.
I'm going for Belgium. Martinez the manager was Swanseas manager a number of years ago. Good bloke too.

Re: All Things Sport...

Looks like France will be through to the semis. Now for Belgium to beat Brazil. It’s been a tournament of upsets so you never know.

My sleep patterns have been all ovr the place but the World Cup only comes around every four years.

Hope you all have been enjoying the action as much as I have.
