All Things Sport...

All Things Sport...

There are many threads dedicated to sharing experiences - good times and not so good - so I thought I would start a thread for those on here who love their sport. For me - and I suspect for some others - sport is a good distraction as it often blocks out the more negative emotions and helps to avoid triggers that many other things in 'life' so often seem to do.

This thread can also be a place where like-minded (and not so like-minded people @utopia @Former-Member @Zoe7 lol) can 'discuss/debate' their respective competitions in their preferred sport(s).

For those that are definitely NOT into sport @Phoenix_Rising for example - avoid this thread at all costs - whoops just tagged you in..........hahaha!!!!!

Hey @MDT

I like your new pic.

I have been keeping up to date with your posts just have not responded. Not been on the computer all too much. Been too tired. Work crazy at the moment, as are customers lol.

Congrats on getting permanent work which I am sure you mentioned if my bad memory serves me correctly.

Re: All Things Sport...

I have been a bit worried about you @Scarecrowe but also presumed you were super busy and probably tired like me. Work has been full on trying to get organised for next term. We don't know how it is going to all work yet but we have planned for both online and inclass learning for the first few weeks.

I can certainly imagine how busy you are and it angers me that people take things out on people like you who are simply doing their job and abiding by the rules at the same time. Some people are so very selfish - you do not deserve any of that Hon - from your boss or customers - they need a reality check in my opinion ...grr!!!

Yes missing my sport too but work has been so busy (like you) that I am super tired when I am home too. I have 2 weeks off now so can ctch up on some rest/sleep and maybe do a few things around home. The isolation doesn't bother me - and really doesn't affect me much as I am a homebody anyway. The only issue is I cn't travel to see my sister, her dog and her new kitten but will do that lter in the week. If I get stopped then I will say I am visiting my elderly parents (they live in the same area) to check on them ...it won't be a complete lie because I will see them at the same time too.

It is just really good to see you here today Hon - made my day Miss you but completely understand

Re: All Things Sport...

Hi @MDT I didn't know you had permanent work - must have missed that somehow in all the mayhem of the last few weeks - congrats buddy - that is awesome 👍😁

Re: All Things Sport...

Thanks @Zoe7 @Scarecrowe

Yeah permanently employed now. Less pressure now. Can concentrate on getting another job suited to my interests. Though that will have to wait. Given all this covid mayhem hey

Re: All Things Sport...

Yes you guys would be busy trying to get organised for another term and not knowing how it is going to pan out @Zoe7

I am like you, a homebody, so being in isolation does not bother me either. I do it most weekends anyway lol. But I do miss my neices and nephew and my sister and mum. Mum dropped off a beer rib casserole and some extra goodies including a carton of beer for me the other day, but she kept her distance. She is 70 so I am not going anywhere near her as she is in high risk catergory. My sister said the other day I can go and visit them but I said no as I am in contact with so many people I don't want to pass it on to any of them. Plus my eldest niece does not have the strongest immune system because of her fight with anorexia a couple of years ago for two years. So I am keeping well away. I usually stay over tonight and watch them hunt for their eggs in the morning, even though they are all teenagers my sister still hides their eggs lol. But I won't get to see that this year which is sad.

I bought myself some easter eggs on Thursday and I am going to put them out on the coffee table before I go to bed tonight and then when I walk downstairs tomorrow morning I will say wow the Easter Bunny has been lol. Gotta make this weekend a bit like Easter

Yes if you get pulled over on your way to your sisters say that and you will be fine. Good thinking. And as you said you will be seeing them anyway.

Different Easter to last year. My best mate and I spent it at Port Arthur. We drove down Good Friday exploring as we went having lunch at Sorell which wa so yummy. Then we spent Easter Saturday exploring Port Arthur and that night did the ghost tour. Then Sunday we headed back home via Richmond which I loved and want to go back their and explore longer and stopped off at Ross for snacks before arriving back home. Was a great weekend. Glad we organised it last year and not this year.

Things have changed dramatically in one year.

Re: All Things Sport...

Great news @MDT especially when so many people are out of work you are extremely fortunate to have that go your way. And you deserve it too my friend.

That would be a massive weight lifted off your shoulders. I am still working which I am very glad of, but if tougher restrictions hit we are not sure if we will be classed as essential or not. Our owners are trying to convince the government to stay open if this happens but they have not replied to them yet. We were supposed to get an answer two weeks ago but have not heard a thing.

Re: All Things Sport...

That is great @MDT 👍

Yes things have changed dramatically in one year @Scarecrowe I do hope that when this is all over people are a little more tolerant and accepting of each other though - and certainly a lot more appreciation for what they actually have including family.

You trip last year sounds wonderful. I love Richmond too - such a beautiful little historic town and lovely for a dy visit. Haven't been to Port Arthur for a few years - the last time I was there was with a bunch of school kids and we had some issues with a couple of the kids we took ...was certainly not a relaxing time but you get that with a school group.

One of my plans these holidays is to paint my loungeroom - but only if I can be bothered. I am not going to place any presure on myself - if it gets done it gets done. I have to patch and sand a few areas first then clen all the walls - so it is not a little job. In saying that I should be able to do it in 2 days if I get stuck into it.

Re: All Things Sport...

It will be interesting to see how life and people are after we get back to 'normality' that is for sure @Zoe7

Yes painting is not a quick job. My father was a house painter (even though he was colour blind ) so I know all about it. The actual painting itself is pretty quick and easy. It is the preparation you need to do before painting which is time consuming. But yes don't put any pressure on yourself, if it gets done it gets done. If it doesn't it doesn't.

Oh yes the old dreaded school kid group. There is always someone or more that ruins it for the rest. Typical kids.

Re: All Things Sport...

Yeah it is the prep time that takes the longest @Scarecrowe I painted the kitchen in my flat years ago and it took 2 days to wash and patch and then one day to paint 3 coats. I used a light colour so it needed 3 coats.

I have the paint for the walls but not for the archs and skirts - so will need to get that when I get paid this week. I am painting the walls lighter than they are at present but keeping a similar colour (slightly darker) for all the trims. I actually like painting so once I get the prep done I should enjoy the painting part.

When do you go back to work? Are you working over Easter at all?

In response to: Re: All Things Sport...

Re: All Things Sport...

I don't work public holidays or weekends as I am too expensive @Zoe7

They only put the young school kids on cause they are cheaper. so I go back to work on Tuesday. So the normal 4 days off.

Well I am going outside to do some gardening while the sun is out and then probably have a nanna nap since I have been up doing housework since about 7. Don't sleep in like I used to do.

Great to chat. Glad you are doing well my friend. I will try and be online more often. Now that Easter is over hopefully it won't be totally insane at work, but who knows lol.

Take care and keep smiling. Blessings to you @Zoe7 @MDT and to Toby and Cat.
