All Things Sport...

All Things Sport...

There are many threads dedicated to sharing experiences - good times and not so good - so I thought I would start a thread for those on here who love their sport. For me - and I suspect for some others - sport is a good distraction as it often blocks out the more negative emotions and helps to avoid triggers that many other things in 'life' so often seem to do.

This thread can also be a place where like-minded (and not so like-minded people @utopia @Former-Member @Zoe7 lol) can 'discuss/debate' their respective competitions in their preferred sport(s).

For those that are definitely NOT into sport @Phoenix_Rising for example - avoid this thread at all costs - whoops just tagged you in..........hahaha!!!!!

Re: All Things Sport...

Now that I have read that post I am trying to figure out Cat's name @Zoe7

But if I think I have figured it out I won't say anything, but I doubt I will figure it out.

Sounded like you and @MDT was enjoying the match lol.

My mum loves Roger so I know she was happy with the win. I said to her where does your loyalty lie, with Australia or with Roger. She said Roger....surprise surprise lol.

Will be watching the Tour Down Under soon. And at some stage getting a phone call from my mate in NSW. Been awhile since we chatted so will be good to hear her voice.

Re: All Things Sport...

Nice one @Scarecrowe re Tour Down Under

Do you like the Tour de France as well?

Hope the chat with your mate is a good one 🙂

Re: All Things Sport...

I'll give you a tip then @Scarecrowe - she was/is South African

It was a wonderful match last night and Millman did himself proud - wish he had won but going down to Federer in 5 sets is still amazing.

My Hurricanes won also and are still in with a chance of making finals - they played so well last night but there is still plenty of room for improvement. It was great having Faulkner and Short back - made a lot of difference.

I am not into cycling but like to know results - enjoy it Hon.

Also enjoy catching up with your friend in NSW also - great for you to reconnect after sometime - sure you will have lots to talk about 👍

Re: All Things Sport...

Hey @MDT how's it going.

Yes I love the tour de france, but don't get to watch a lot of it as it is on very late and I have early starts. I got into it over a decade ago and found out there is so much more to it than I realised. Lots of tactics which I found fascinating. Now I try and catch as much bike racing as I can.

Did not see the race yesterday as I went to the pictures but was really pleased that Richie Porte won the day before. I really want him to win the tour de france this year. His bad luck in that race has to have run out you would think.

Re: All Things Sport...

that Cane Train steamed into the station last night @Zoe7

was a great win. was really happy for them.

you are like me with the tennis, like to know the results but not into watching much.

Ok I will roll with that hint on the Cat's name and see how I go lol.

Re: All Things Sport...

We have one more game left that we have to win and then have to rely on other results falling our way also @Scarecrowe Our last game is against the Strikers so a difficult one.

Cat's name starts with C - that may help 👍

Re: All Things Sport...

Well before you posted this message @Zoe7 I typed in retired south african female tennis players and the first name that came up I thought I remember that name. and then checked when they retired and I thought yep I reckon that's it. And you have just confirmed my thought. lol.

Cool name!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: All Things Sport...

Yes indeed you would think that by now hey @Scarecrowe I think Porte will do well this year in TdF. Lets hope anyway. He has a decent enough team around him.

What did you see last night?

Re: All Things Sport...

👍👍👍👍👍 @Scarecrowe She is a little sweetheart just like the tennis player was too - so the name really fits. I used to love watching her play - she was the same age as me (and the same height lol) so we had a lot in common. She also did a lot of work outside of tennis with kids and charities and quite often was awarded the most popular player as well as being recognised for all her charity work - so much to like about her ...plus she was a good player as well.

My previous cat had an unusual name also so it was quite a surprise to everyone that Toby got called a more common name ...but it fits with him so well too.

Re: All Things Sport...

Yes I have a feeling in my water that Porte's year is this year with the TdF @MDT He is a very talented rider and a local boy from my point of view lol.

I went and saw Jo Jo Rabbit. Was good. Not totally hilarious as people have said but were funny moments. But something different and the young boy in it is brilliant. As his the boy who plays his mate.
