New to SANE

New to SANE

I just joined SANE and to be honest, I am not a t all sure what to do here, little known what to say, or write as the case maybe. I suffer with Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, Major Depression, Sevre Anxiety, and to top them off, Agoraphobia. Bipolar Disorder has also been mentioned, but not officially diagnosed, not that I need another one, as I struggle with what I have now, then add in a few medical issues as well, and you have me. For whatever use or good that is. To say I struggle would be an understatement. I keep to myself and have all but cut contact with the outside world, and do my best to shut it out, though it does manage to creep in at times. Anyway, before I rattle on too much, or delve too deep into the darkness of my life, I will leave it here, as I am not entirely sure what is allowed and what is not, nor would I wish to bore you all.

Re: New to SANE

hey there @SpiritHawk welcome to the forums!!

totally okay if you're unsure what to do, we can help ya with that - the forums is a space to connect, share stories, support each other, learn from each other, find resources, watch webinars, etc.

the post you've created here is perfect! and you're welcome to explore and engage with other threads too!

i've got anxiety too (social anxiety), it can be rough hey. i imagine having agoraphobia has made it difficult to engage with physical supports? hopefully the community here can help you feel connected and less alone 💙

Re: New to SANE

Hi Rav3n,

Thanks for the reply, and the kind words. Yes, rough it can be, and that's on a good day. Alone is something I have always felt, even in the past when I was married, which makes it even harder to deal with one's demons, when those demons were the only ones standing by me in my times of need, but anyway, that's life, I guess. It is what it is.

love your name @SpiritHawk welcome

there isn’t really a correct way to use the forums. There are guidelines, but I have been on here long enough not to take moderation too personally. I am just an elder not a mod. I believe in good intentions, having a go, and adapting a bit if needed. This space is meant to be useful and healing for you, so I hope it works.

take care apple 🍎

Re: New to SANE

Hey @SpiritHawk ,

You're certainly not alone.

Despite the numerous medical conditions and mental health diagnoses, we all have strengths.

I know first hand what BPD, PTSD and agoraphobia is like, so I know it's not easy. But there is space to live a meaningful life in the way that you ideally want.

What are some things that keep you going?

Also, to tag someone into your post when you respond, feel free to type "@" before the username e.g. @SpiritHawk - that way, we get a notification 🙂

Re: New to SANE

i hear you @SpiritHawk even when i had family or friends around me in the past, i still felt so alone and invisible. at that time, i felt like nobody could understand or accept the real me. there are still times now that i feel misunderstood, but i do feel much more accepted in both my community here and offline. it can take time, but there's still hope for you too 💙

i wanted to share one of social spaces thread here: Fancy a cuppa , Connect now 2 - SANE Forums

we have a couple similar threads to this that we spotlight on the forums - you are always welcome to pop in and say hi, share how your day's going, ask questions, etc.

outta curiousity, are there some goals that you're working on for yourself at the moment?

Hey @tyme

I generally use my gaming as a coping method, to the point I now call my pc my lifeline. I also write novels, poetry, quotes and the likes, and I dabble in painting.

Re: New to SANE

Hey @SpiritHawk ,

That's great stuff. We all have our own lifelines and they can all look so different.

What would you say your goal in like would be? Or something you want to work towards in achieving your ideal "life"?

Re: New to SANE

I don't have a goal. I don't have a purpose. I don't live a life, I merely exist. Nothing excites me anymore. I feel no joy. Nothing seems worth it. I want to open up and talk, and yet I want to retreat back into my shadowed realm of darkness. I don't want to burden anyone with my crap and always feel like I am under extreme pressure when it comes to talking. I am so lost, and yet my shadowed existence brings me comfort, well, to some degree. From the earliest age I can remember, age 5 or there about, I have suffered abuse and trauma in one form or another. Now, I'm 59, and all I feel is emptiness, and as for hope, well, hope died a long time ago.

Re: New to SANE

Is this how you want things to be @SpiritHawk ?

Why I'm saying that is with my mental health condition, I felt a similar way for over a decade.... but eventually, things shifted and I'm no one special by any means.

I just want to say that we appreciate you coming here and sharing a little about yourself. I hope we can continue this journey together.

Have you been able to reach out to any of your treating team to share how you have been feeling recently?
