@Appleblossom i hear you loud and clear. i also left my heavy rock behind bringing up our children. Although Pink Floyd, Supertramp and Child in Time from Deep purple i have never been able to say good bye to. The kids never minded. They love Pink Floyd all five of them. Although i do not know about Supertramp, or Child in Time from deep purple, they were more dad's songs when they grew up.

We also schooled our children on a private school. The good was that almost all the teachers were dedicated to the welfare of the children for they were God's gift to us as a Church. Yet a lot of the religious stuff coming their way was harder to get them through unscratched.

Although our older son and middle daughter have stopped going to Church now, they both love the truth of God nevertheless. Neither are ashamed calling themselves children of God, or that they believe and/or love Jesus. Our son will take on any atheist seriously when it comes to Jesus but will side with them when it comes to religion. Like his uncle, who is an ex drug addict turned street pastor to the homeless, and loves to wear T-shirts proclaiming - Religion Sucks - or - Jesus Saves - doing so.

Our oldest daughter still goes to Church but both she and her husband are not happy, and have not ben for years. Only because for him his family, and a lot of their friends are part of the Church. Also lack of a good alternative Church in Town has to do with this descision. Our youngest son lives in Canada and is an Elder in Church there. He is the one who leans the most the Church's way, when it comes to religious stuff. Nevertheless both he and his wife serve the Lord sincerely and take good care of their four children. Even though they are much stricter on their children religious wise than we were to him. This seems to be mainly her, and her families, influence in their lives.

Like Classical music and rock? Richie Blackmore is stunning in this live piece called Beethoven meets rock.👍 (Might want to turn the volume up so Beethoven can hear it upstairs🤣)

You're were a teacher as well! That's wonderful @Appleblossom Did you enjoy working with other people? I've only listened to the same few genres in my life but am listening to different music on here now. I don't like 'heavy', loud music. I prefer the melancholy songs with lyrics. That relates to my past.

It's a shame our confidence can dictate what we can and can't do. I've heard the expression, fake it until you make it, but my confidence won't always allow that. I can bluff my way through most things, looking calm on the outside but am paddling fast under the water! That's my anxiety.

I think it's great that you're still involved with music! I'm glad you get meaning from music doing something you love. 💜

@DownMoreThanUp thanks for the reminder and the link... and a rockin...ode 2 joy

@heartathome ... fake it til you make it... is an expression I no longer like

I now think it gives people an excuse to bully...blustery bravado without concern for which toes are being trodden on, or untruths enacted. Unfortunately its common in music... i understand all the justfications...

my son just loved my vichysoisse with chives and bacon

@MissGremlin @Glisten @Bunniekins @PeppyPatti and all.... still listening the Deep Purple.... QUIETLY.

Boyfriend had an amp in my loungeroom.... maybe another reason to enjoy a bit a peece & quiet

I love that you feel safe enough to disagree @Appleblossom ! 🙂 I can see how people could bully with that attitude. I learnt the saying from NA, but I knew what they were getting at. I try and do everything with love now. My psych taught me that. It's not always what I say but how I say it. It's the same with what I do, everything with love is my aim. It doesn't always work out though!

My body shakes when I'm nervous so I don't always come across as confident. I have medication for it but don't use it very often. I used to be very confident; confident enough to do customer service in fashion and banking. I guess the less I talk now, the more confident I look. lol I'm still pretty straight down the line but don't say half as much anymore. Imagine that. 😁

Sending warm vibes 💜

Hey @heartathome, how beautiful, effective and self-/other-compassionate is adopting love as your approach, and wonderful as a powerful insight! Inspiring 🙂

As I know you know very well, confidence can be fundamentally tricky to navigate, and where silence can always be golden :), I've found useful the experience of practice to demonstrate confidence - for example, that idea of trying out some communication with someone while not feeling confident, it will likely feel difficult of course, but then the next time just a tad easier and so on - a kind of practice thing.

I've trust that you've got this 😊💚
