Yes that’s why I learnt Spanish @rav3n . Spanish dept gave me two big piles of relevant magazines.

Hope ypu feel abit better soon @Shaz51 . Nausea is particularly annoying to me, and even more when it is hot (and presumably humid).

I have gotten a cold so i am fairly absent as i have spent 2 days in bed mostly.

Hopefully, like @GezzaP 's coffee induced sickness, I will recover soon. My goal is to be well by Thursday - so I am telling myself I will be 😅.

@rav3n I can count to five in Bahasa Indonesian and used to know how to say “I’m allergic to coconut”. Learned that in primary school.

I speak a few words of French and German learned in high school.

If you speak Spanish you can understand some French, Italian, Portuguese and Rumanian. I’m about 75 percent fluent in Spanish. My lessons are through duolingo too. But when I was doing my PhD I sat in on uni classes. They graded all my stuff.

A friend let me join his family package for $30. He is one of my former students. He is a genius way more intelligent than me. Did his Phd at the ANU. He’s into Deth Metal and plays lead guitar in a band they haven’t performed live yet. He’s a few years younger than me on a disability pension and lives with his parents. He suffers from depression sometimes over not having a partner, but mostly is fine. Goes out everyday rarely eats all meals at home. Lives a long way from me though. Drops in sometimes. I go to his place rarely. I don’t like the high speed driving.

@GezzaP i did a bit of French in school too! that makes sense why i find Spanish a bit easier to learn, there's definitely some overlap with French - and way less grammar rules thank goodness!

learning at uni sounds great! it's nice learning in-person and practicing those skills with others.

your friend sounds pretty cool, is it an electric guitar? my dream is to learn that. do you play instruments too?
