Re: Fancy a cuppa , Connect now 2

Hi @AlwaysMyself I appreciate it. At the moment I’m trying to not feed the rumination. I have a lot to process in therapy, but the timing isn’t right at the moment because I’m not stable. Depression has been awful and it’s been worse an and more intense lately, I’ve had a lot of dark thoughts (I’m safe) and rumination over unresolved traumas, I also have cptsd and it feeds my OCD. I’m just trying to hold on until the ends year when I can work on it with my psych and I also likely need a med review. I know mood episodes come and go as part of my bipolar, but I’ve been stuck on a low for a bit now

Re: Fancy a cuppa , Connect now 2

*safe hugs @creative_writer * Low moods suck, eh. I know those thoughts - they plague me often too. I wish they'd obey me when I tell them to go away 😅 they're as disobedient as my dogs sometimes lol. It can be hard to balance the timing of delving into difficult topics eh. I hope you are able to make good space for it at the end of the year with your psych. 😊. Happy to help you hold on however I can until then. I don't have a diagnosis of OCD, but sometimes my thoughts have had OCD characteristics in their recurring intrusion - a psych gave me some meds sometimes used for OCD during one such time when I was much younger and they really helped (until the other side effects were an issue lol, but it was long enough for the meds to break the mental cycle pattern).

I'll join you in trying not to ruminate tonight lol. Trying to keep my head a bit above water too. Nothing "wrong" per se, no trigger, just a tired out mental mood I'm trying not to give attention to because as you note - ruminating feeds it.

Aw, hope you're feeling a bit better soon @Shaz51 *hugs*.

I had some extra nap time this morning which was good because I was so tired. Did a mini-shop for a few things, and went for a coffee - but go so tired at coffee even after just 1 hour I was feeling like falling asleep. 😴

Do you have any plans for tomorrow or the weekend? (other than the coffee chat threads that is!)

Re: Fancy a cuppa , Connect now 2

@AlwaysMyself you can’t control thoughts, you only have control over how you manage them.

I think many people have traits of different MIs but don’t necessarily meet criteria. There is a lot of OCD traits on my maternal side, but I think it’s largely undiagnosed. Side effects can suck. I’m not currently on any SSRIs for it. I have to be careful with SSRIs, I can’t seem to tolerate typical doses (only small).

I’m going to eat my evening snack now. Do you have much planned for the rest of the day?

Re: Fancy a cuppa , Connect now 2

Very true @creative_writer - can only learn to manage thoughts.

I've been on SSRI/SNRI meds since I was 16. Thankfully I haven't had adverse effects whilst on them, but I do get withdraw effects if I forget to take a dose on my current ones. Not sure any more if they do much or not though, since I have been on this medication for over 10 years now. I will probably taper off the meds in the new year, because there is a treatment I would like to try but need to be off medication for it. Pretty sure I will get some annoying withdraw effects physically from tapering though - but I guess knowing that in advance can at least mean I know I may not be able to do things like driving or much walking.

9pm where I am (eastern half of aus), so bed time for me hopefully soon. Just waiting until I feel sleep enough to actually sleep. Often I am asleep before 9pm. But I think may be my brain is over-tired today and heading into its alter-ego --- insomnia.

Re: Fancy a cuppa , Connect now 2

@AlwaysMyself I’m sensitive to SSRIs and SRNIs because of bipolar. I might be able to tolerate baby doses, but that’s about it. I do currently take atypical antidepressant, it’s one of the sleep ones. I hope the new treatment works out for you, sometimes you do need something different. I’m hoping that a change in meds might help me feel more stable. Change can be good, but scary.

I’ve been sleep between 10:30-11pm lately since the days are super long. It’s hard to sleep earlier in the warmer months. I hope you are able to get some sleep tonight. I will try to get some sleep, I need to get up early tomorrow.

Awake early again @creative_writer . 5 hours sleep. At least it’s cool atm so I could open up house.

Sorry to hear you are still on a low. They suck. I am missing my psychologist.

Re: Fancy a cuppa , Connect now 2

@GezzaP I was up early today too, around 4:53am, had between 4 and 5 hours of sleep. I hope you can get some snooze in and today is a good day💖.

Not having your support around can be hard, do know there are always helplines and the forums if you need them.

I’m going on a scheduled break from the forums and will be back in a few weeks
