You don't have to ride from home, I would often walk my bike to a quiet park and just ride it around there...

But I don't like busy roads either, I avoid them on my bike as much as possible

There is a track nearby, I might try walking my bike to the start and riding along it. It's mostly flat too, so it would be great for a beginner like myself.
