@avant-garde i truly understand this so much. Going out is always a risk of coming across someone that may know me or recognise me or tell someone that is trying to find me. I get that feeling of never truly feeling safe. I'm glad you have a church that loves and protects you but yes it can be hard for others to understand.

If it's ok with you I'll have a look at your "running" thread at some stage, only if you're comfortable with it though.

I hear you on the exhaustion, it takes so much to feel safe when everything tries to tell you otherwise.

When my ear canals were so swollen I couldn't hear anything and so didn't hear my uncle approaching in the shopping centre... it terrified me...

I find living in plain sight is the best way to hide.

But also know that if my dad were ever to find me, he just needs to approach me twice for me to have grounds for a restraining order.

While just waiting for him to pass away...

Oh hun that would have been so terrifying, I'm sorry you had that experience.

I truly hope your dad never finds you, it sounds like you've worked so hard to get away from him and others and have done well to get to the point you are at today.

@avant-garde i don't as yet. I have thought about it but it takes alot of courage to share and I'm not quite ready for it yet. I also have the fear over me of being found on here if I was to share too much.

It's a fear I share

I have been a member since 2017 but only became active last year

It feels like there is so much of my history that is unique to me, but what I've found is that yes there is some but not as much as I expected.

You may find a lot of your history is similar to my own and in that it strengthens the anonymity.

We're here whenever you're ready, your decision

@avant-garde that fear is real and it weighs so heavily.

It's eye opening abs heart breaking when you discover that so many people have been through the same or similar things. Things that shouldn't be so common as they are, it makes you question humanity.

That anonymity is paramount for me as it sounds like it is for you.

I hope to share a bit of my story one day just have to be mindful on how much I share.

In other news I managed to find hoopla and the Harry potter books 🙂

It's a heavy weight you and I bear and it hurts so much to know we're not the only ones running

I don't even share my state or what time it is, I am so so careful but it's finding the balance between how much you can carry alone and then how much you can share to make the load bearable.

I am so proud of you for finding hoopla! I'm a member of 15 different libraries and there are a bunch I can use with it that I've never had to worry about the limits
