Loneliness

Loneliness

Loneliness is the biggest mental health issue worldwide and travelling through the forums I've come across many people looking for connection. Imagine if we could just talk to each other! It seems I need to learn to tag people, so they know that I've responded. I'm still learning to get my way around here. I do understand why people would leave, thinking, like me, that they could just go into a chat room. I guess it all needs to be monitored. Anyway, that's my whinge for today! My encouragement for today goes like this: There is no such thing as normal. The only normal I know is a setting on the washing machine! Be kind to yourself! Don't take it personally if I don't get back to you. I still can't work it all out! You'll just have to imagine my smiling emoji.

Re: Loneliness

Hi @REDLINEZ750 You are very creative! I prefer the fire but maybe fade the colour to the background of the writing. It's worth having a look. I also think about a light at the end of a tunnel or seeing light through a forest. I really like what you're doing so just go for it!!!

The recovery group was okay. I accidently disconnected myself and had to get back in, then learn how to send a chat. I don't text as it takes me too long. I can barely keep up with the chats because a lot use the chat option. Not everyone had their camera's on or talked. Did you talk at all? We spoke about connection.

I don't like this threads name anymore. It reminds me of how I felt when I first came on here. I may of even started it! Can we go to poems or start a new discussion somewhere. What do you think?

Re: Loneliness

@REDLINEZ750 I can't find the poem thread. It doesn't matter. I just don't want to be lonely anymore. I'm stretching myself to connect with people. I guess this thread is more 'private' than the other threads. So be it! We're in Loneliness! I did start this thread because I thought that's how you put something up! 😄 I'd like other people to see your art eventually, though! ☺️

Re: Loneliness

Hey @heartathome ,

I hear you about loneliness. It can be brutal. I've been in that space for a long time. But I was surrounded with people but felt terribly lonely. It was a void within me and it was so hard to handle.

Good on you for stepping out of your comfort to make changes so you feel less alone.

What are things you enjoy doing? We can tag you into other threads that you can connect with others.

Also @Shaz51 starts social threads on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays that you can join in. We'd love to have you Friday Coffee and Chat -- 17th October 2025

Something I found when I was first using these forums is that I could 'practice' social skills on the forums, then take these skills to the real world. This is because I prefer typing to talking. So on the forums, I could practice 'talking', and gave me more confidence outside....

Re: Loneliness

@REDLINEZ750 Are you suggesting a new discussion thread with the name 'belonging'? I want to talk more about the name. I like it but I don't know if I feel a sense of belonging yet but definitely connection! I was thinking of 'connection' because it's the opposite of loneliness and it was the first discussion in the first recovery group. Then I thought that the word 'connection' could bring a lot of people and do we want that (knowing most of my poems are about my struggles and spiritual journey with God) or something more inconspicuous or a name that means something to both of us. 🤔 Do you want to do the same thing with the other poems? I can always type them out again. I suppose it would be good typing practice and give me something to do. 😁 I wouldn't bother the moderators. I reckon they'd be busy. I don't know how to anyway apart from tagging one of the peer workers. Who are the moderators, without tagging them? Has your day been okay apart from the heat? Do you have an aircon? I have ceiling fans, and someone gave me a new pair of sunnies today. I'm ready for summer.... I think! 😎

Re: Loneliness

Thanks for responding @tyme . @REDLINEZ750 is using his graphic art skills for my poems and I was just discussing where to put them or to start a new thread to play around with them. We're just working out a name for it as I don't like the 'loneliness' subject anymore. I want something more positive as a subject. I'm okay and okay is good enough for me atm. 💛

What are things you enjoy doing? - I'm still finding that out.

Thanks @REDLINEZ750 . You've been so caring and supportive; I really appreciate and love getting to know you! 💛

I'm okay @Shaz51 It's been an emotional day as the hub finally shut their doors for good today! I'll miss the workers! I'm grateful for making a couple of good friends there over the last three and a half years. I wrote and shared this with them at the end. 💛

For three and a half years

Your doors were always open

A steady light when my flickered low

A place where silence was heard

And struggle was met with care

Thank you for being my safe haven

Just human, just healing

Just finding my way again

I will miss you deeply and never forget

Re: Loneliness

That's a really good point. Have a think about what you want this recovery-focused thread to feel like and we can certainly support you if needed. It looks like others are also able to guide you @heartathome @Shaz51 @REDLINEZ750

I look forward to seeing some of your work!
