hi everyone 🙂
ive got my first appoitnment with a psychiastrist tomorrow morning and im pretty nervous and not sure what to expect..
what should i expect in my first appointment? were you scared the first time you went?
can everyone share their experiences with me about how they went during your sessions?
im really nervous and any advice is very much welcome

i get very overwhlemed by alot of things too but now that im abit more aware of what tomorrows going to bring i can be abit more prepared

thak you @CherryBomb i think they will probably instantly see that im nervous as soon as i walk in the door. im already scared but at least i cant be abit more prepared about what is to come now

Don't freak out, they're just humans, and is one of the highest suicide rate professions. Just imagine them in their togs at the pool with 5ankle biters vlamering for their attention and ants in their pants lol. No honestly, it takes several sessions to get a proper profile and two psychiatrists to slam you in hospital. You sound fine here. Your first apt is really just introductions + getting to know each other. Remember, you don't HAVE to tell them anything, only what you're ready to. All the best,;it will be OK. xox

@Former-Member Only share what you are comfortable sharing about- I can't remember what they asked at my first appointment. I think mainly talked about my presenting problem. They may ask about your schooling, childhood and family background.

@Former-Member May ask about any major health problems.
I am not sure your reason to see a psychaistrist I don't need to know but sometimes they will give you a blood test to rule out any physical causes for a mental illness (depression,anxiety etc)
