Share your story - What strengthened your SEWB?

Hi everyone,

Hoping we can start to share some of the ways we look after our social and emotional wellbeing in this thread!

Is it keeping a diary, drawing or painting, or kicking off your shoes on Country and going for a walk? Come share your stories or resources here so others can get some ideas or inspiration 🖤💛❤️

That's wonderful @Yuinblackduck73, it sounds like you have a lot to be proud of with your girls, what an exciting time.

Just wanted leave a quick note to let you know that we've edited out the names in your post to ensure anonymity is maintained. Some people like to give their family member's nicknames to use on here but unfortunately we're not able to publish any real names of those close to us on the forums. @rav3n
Thanks for making this post. Thanks to everyone who has shared. Been short on time but glad I could get to this one now.
I picked two Domains.

Healing and Body.

Healing for me really started when I  worked up the courage to access services I had been scared tp do in the past. But I was brave and strong and I went and put myself first.  It was the first stage of healing. I could talk about my family and some of the things I had never spoken about. This link to people who understand me and help me connect with elders locally but also support me to connect with my own culture has meant a lot of me.
Through  this I have worked up the courage and skills to dig deeper in my healing, finding out more about my family, my history and a way forward.
The next one I picked was Body.
Being active. I run often and spend a lot of time with my family outside including family walks with my babies and even taking them for runs too.
Looking after my body helps my emotional wellbeing too I feel better when I have spent time exercising

I notice it when I havent taken that time. I also never run  with music or headphones, I prefer to listen and take in the world around me, I run through the tracks in the bush sometimes or along our favourite place in some cliffs above the water on a path

I am trying to cut down on drinking and previously I had smoked and used substances to cope but I feel better for not using those as strategies anymore

love what you've shared @ArraDreaming. learning and understanding the past can be so important in supporting our healing journey.

i also like how present you are when you run - no headphones and really taking in your surroundings is such a great practice.

Its important to switch off sometimes
And when else do we get to? @rav3n I know in my house if the tv isn’t on music is playing and if music isnt playing an audiobook or kids story is playing
when do we just *exist* without that external stuff?
Good at times, I love music but our brain needs space

that's so true @ArraDreaming music definitely has it's time and place too, but yep i agree we all need that 'switch off' time - reading your post, i've realised it's something i need to work more on

Hi All @ArraDreaming @rav3n @Yuinblackduck73 @Lila3 @Captain24 @Oaktree

Back from sport comp - was good catching up with people from all around Australia

On the second day we had a non-competitive social endurance event on beautiful country. So honoured to meet a lady from the local mob. Had a great yarn at the social dinner - so lovely to hear some local mob story.

So I suppose with my sport @ArraDreaming Body is one of my domains (apart from mind), but now also culture speaking to this lady.

I did some practice for general fitness by doing long bushwalks on a very nearby country. I felt connected because it's also a saltwater country that has similar flora and fauna to my country. I also never have any sounds except for sounds of country, which is mainly waves hitting the cliffs and rocks, but also the birds. I find natural sounds grounding. I wove myself a bracelet to take to comp with me

I gather Lomandra hystrix also known as mat rush plant. @Till23 Sounds like you had a great time away and connected with culture.
