What has been your highlight today, no matter how big or small? Come share 🫶

Hi everyone! This is my first ever forum post so do hope it lands where it’s meant to 🤣

Most days, I like to find a highlight 😊. Usually, that means during a walk with my dog, I try to spot something different, something cool or something that brings me some happiness. Whether it’s something big or small, it doesn’t matter. A highlight can be anything!

I love taking photos and would really like to share and see what you've come across. Something that made you smile, sparked your interest, or simply caught your eye. For me, it’s all the little things that count on the hard days.

To start, I’d like to share these beautiful birds I came across today. They like to appear like branches of a tree or the tree itself. They are called Tawny Frogmouth’s. Has anyone else seen these types of birds? My pics below -(hopefully not too small to see two in the tree on the left pic).

What have you seen today? ☀️💛🙏

@DownMoreThanUp, G’day!! Lovely to hear from you! I do not know anything about geese so I have been very interested in everything you have said. I wonder what the fertile egg rate is for geese? Or what the other factors that contribute to no Goslings. I have my fingers and toes crossed for you and if not this time hopefully next time!! I wonder how often they can have goslings in a year?

Oh I can imagine the male would have been very upset lol. It’s it because his role is to protect her or does he this you’ll steal his wife? Do they mate for life?
How long have you had them for?

Yeah MH is rough, definitely doesn’t discriminate you sound like you have been riding the waves lately which is so nice to hear.
Your walk sounded super good! So many bonuses, fresh air, sun, there are heaps more to add! I am glad it was really lovely and you still had some energy in the tank! I wonder if these will be regular walks now? Did you get to see any animals or anything interesting down there when you were there? I love the beach!

@REDLINEZ750, haha Pooky putting on a good act for icecream with the sneezing lol, animals are so smart. I have to tell my housemates not to feed Indi as she looks at them like she hasn’t been feed to fool them into giving her more food 😆

I hope your icecream was good what did you have?

Haha @ENKELI your video was very funny that’s for the laugh. I think I’d be that lady too 😂🥹

I love your artwork as-well! that would have taken some work, looks amazing so many different colours.

Good luck with the scans @Glisten, thinking of you 🙏

Sorry to hear @RebelliousAngel, you got this we are all behind you here. Gently bently 🙏. It’s so nice to hear from you though hope we can chat even if things are a bit rough hope it will offer a bit of relief 🫶, that and chocolate 🍫 💛

Lovely @Eve7! Always nice to get away!! I am off camping on the weekend and completely forgot it was the grand final weekend, must have been living under a rock when we all booked that 🤭😬

Lucky my team aren’t in the final lol

What else did you get up to when you were away? Hope it was nice weather and a nice recharge 🙏

@Chasingsunsets They reckon that Geese mate for life when in the wild but not when domesticated. However, we do notice he likes the female on the nest now, much more than the other one. So hopefully her six eggs will be fertile. We bought the geese last year, this is their first mating season. i will keep you updated. We check on her every day now.

Yes we did have a very nice walk and we did see an wild animal. A young tiger snake crawled basically over our feet trying to get across the path. A dog in front of us must have stirred it up, luckily it did not get bitten, neither did we. The snake, young and beautifully brightly coloured, looked really elegant trying to climb the steep sand banks on the side of the path. It was very scared of us.

Yes i have basically been surfing my feelings, rather than be dumped by them. It is good to see that over the years i have regained some control over my feeling world, learning to ignore it. When i was younger this seemed impossible, however knowing what happens when i give in to the negativity makes it well worth it.

This is the good part of proper counselling and learning to be mindful of the situation i'm in, rather than reactionary, as i 've been for so long. For now rather than being hard on myself, as i always did when the negativity was pounding, i give myself lots of slack, and more love and tender care rather than less. This seems to do the trick, awaiting until i cycle out of my depressive mode, and get back unto a more even keel.

Sleep is also really important here. When i heed my emotion misfiring i hardly sleep a wink, however it is not even a month ago i had a psychotic breakdown, and i'm back to 4 1/2 almost 5 hours in my first sleep, and often a hour, or even more, later on during the day. So very happy about all that.

Feeling still a little groggy getting the cobwebs out of my head but otherwise fine so far today.👋

@REDLINEZ750 @Eve7 @RebelliousAngel @ENKELI

How are you going friends? i hope you have a productive day, even if down and out, and will be able to give yourselves lots of love and care where you are hurting in your lives. For this what i know for sure about myself suffering a depressive illness, i cannot trust my feelings to tell me nice things when down, for i can trust my feelings to have it right. Holding onto what i know is the truth of myself, i suffer from hearing bad lies about myself, fights those lies the very best. (Having a wife who loves me a lot, and has learned to always give me extra tender care when down and out, instead of withdraw like i do, does help this process a lot. (Thank God for her love and positivity in my life.))

No other highlights today, however it is not even 4am yet, so hopefully i've got more highlights coming my way. i hope to have enough energy to repair a gate that broke of its hinges a few months ago and i have not got around to fixing yet.

@Appleblossom Hi, i hope you had a good day! My day was great yesterday. That is two good days in a row. Things are really looking up i reckon.

@Chasingsunsets @Glisten @REDLINEZ750 @Eve7

A poem i wrote years ago beginning to wake up to my depressive ways of dealing with myself a depressed person.

Waking Up

Astonished i looked
and beheld
the truth of my lies
ruling me
much bloodshed
always trampling
all good in me
under foot.

Depression always
drinks my life blood
denying me
any good life
time and again.

Mystery solved,
my own
unfaithfulness exposed
me heeding
my tormentors
instead of defending
good life
i surrender it
to those wolves
prowling through
my mind
24/7

So no more
heeding lies
but throwing
them out
of my life
so sore
no more
crucifying me
in my pain
from now on.

@Chasingsunsets I do love birds of prey. 🦅

There’s a family of Nankeen Kestrels where I live. So cute!

Got an email from the roster team at 11:55am this morning regarding the 2 vacant placement shifts scheduled for tomorrow that they had available, so I’ve immediately booked one the moment I got the email.

So that means, instead of having my next/third placement shift next month, I’ll be having it tomorrow afternoon instead (which means it’s possible I’ll be getting the same placement supervisor like I did last week). 😊

time to suffer 😈

just hoping I won’t get the IBS flare up again just a few hours before the shift starts like I did last week when I had my second one. But I think tomorrow I’ll be fine & that I won’t get it (I hope, or maybe I might, but the symptoms & pain might be minimal, idk)🤞

I did tell my placement supervisor last week about the IBS flare up I had on that day and she was very understanding and offered me to take breaks and to continue on with the shift whenever I’m ready.

Wonder how many help seeker interactions I can handle tomorrow.

I just wanna get approved for service after I get like 4-6 placement shifts as quick as I can so that I can finally choose my own shift times.

hey everyone @Chasingsunsets my highlight would be sleeping till 1.15 which is unheard of, its intwined with having my wellcome call to guided recovery as its what woke me up.

i was so embarressed if i even thought it was a possibility sleep that late i woiuld of had alarm set.

@DownMoreThanUp its great your having some positive days, i hope it lasts and having the ability to release expressiom through writing i found helps a lot.

certainly a blessing to have an understanding wife as you know by mentioning that in post, my eyes are bad sorry the hinge looks intact to me was that opic taken after repair?

@Blackcloud hopefully tomorrow you will have another positive experiance & if you have that supervisorr hold onto ihow well it went on other shift, my Mum has IBS, it must be so hard on you having that compound your anxieties, hope it settles as you get more shifts. Good luck for tommorrow id say that email is confirmation of how good your doing already
