What has been your highlight today, no matter how big or small? Come share 🫶

Hi everyone! This is my first ever forum post so do hope it lands where it’s meant to 🤣

Most days, I like to find a highlight 😊. Usually, that means during a walk with my dog, I try to spot something different, something cool or something that brings me some happiness. Whether it’s something big or small, it doesn’t matter. A highlight can be anything!

I love taking photos and would really like to share and see what you've come across. Something that made you smile, sparked your interest, or simply caught your eye. For me, it’s all the little things that count on the hard days.

To start, I’d like to share these beautiful birds I came across today. They like to appear like branches of a tree or the tree itself. They are called Tawny Frogmouth’s. Has anyone else seen these types of birds? My pics below -(hopefully not too small to see two in the tree on the left pic).

What have you seen today? ☀️💛🙏

@Chasingsunsets according to Google what you have photographed is a Damascenes pigeon also known as a Rock pigeon or Rock dove. One of the many breeds of Racing/Homing pigeons.

Pretty thing, won’t take up space on your plate lol.

I’m surrounded by trees and nowhere that I feel comfortable working.

Well there are a couple of timber sculptures-type things I want to finish and mount.

Hope I see you in the Forum soon.

@Chasingsunsets I used to cook a lot of stir frys and serve them on a bed of rice. I did satay chicken, chilli chicken. I used to make a vegetable and lentil curry, that was a weight watcher's recipe, and it is so delicious. I remember the first time I made it my partner had two bowls of it. I used to cook a nice fettuccine carbonara and the standard spag bog. Oh and a very yummy curried sausages with potatoes, carrots and peas served on rice. We used to eat a lot of rice back then. Gee it has been so long since I have been in the kitchen, I can't remember any others. And I also used to make cakes to take to work from time to time.

I remember when I was 19 and I went for a job interview at a law firm, I must of had cooking down as in interest on my resume. And the interviewer asked if he gave me the job, would I make him a cake, and I said yes. Well I got the job and I made a Dobos Torte that looked similar to this.

I used to love cooking. But with the depression and now the back issues the interest has gone 😕

@Chasingsunsets Yes it has been full on this year and the last 8 weeks in particular. i have lost [weight - edited by moderator] and i even though i try hardest i find it impossible to eat more than a toast at best. The severity of the nausea has been the main issue, and i have recently discussing this with AI in much more depth. For although i have seen doctors for this many times already over the years, and had many acid tests done, they have always concluded it was P.T.S.D related.

@Mustang67 @Bunniekins @Glisten @PeppyPatti

However AI does not think this sounds plausible given the symptoms, and has had me make a new appointment with my GP writing me this support letter.

It reckons my peeking emotional upheavals while nauseous do not sound like they are only P.T.S.D related, and that my states could well be badly effected by a psychical condition, not just mental. For nausea pften pre-curses severely fluctuating depressive states, and then at times, often trauma memories induced, fainting spells can follow.

I understand PTSD/stress may contribute, but I would appreciate assessment for possible physical contributors as well (for example autonomic/orthostatic issues, gastrointestinal causes, medication sensitivity, nutritional impact from poor intake, or other medical causes).

(Using TMG has significantly improved my gut stability and reduced symptom frequency, but I still have recurrent nausea episodes and occasional severe crashes.”)

Symptoms that are affecting:

eating
weight
daily tasks
confidence leaving home / seeing people
overall functioning

I have recurrent severe episodes of sudden collapse/near-collapse.

During episodes I experience:

intense nausea
profuse sweating (soaked)
dizziness / feeling faint
weakness / unable to remain upright
need to lie down immediately
sometimes need assistance (cooling face, support)
recovery can take 30–40 minutes

These severe episodes have occurred about 7–8 times over the last few years, with many milder or near episodes prevented by lying down early.

Common triggers:

bending over
weeding / hanging washing
moderate exertion
mornings
poor sleep
already feeling nauseous

Also ongoing poor appetite and recent weight loss.

Emotional triggers can strongly worsen or trigger episodes, especially trauma memories, grief/loss, and severe distress. I have fainted during trauma-related episodes before.

Because of that, I am concerned these may be autonomic / near-fainting episodes that can be triggered by both physical strain and emotional stress, rather than nausea/anxiety alone.

See how that goes. i have an appoint on Wednesday with my GP and see what he does with this information. AI believes treatment for the psychical symptom could well greatly reduce my current severe and very fast cycling states along with the severe nausea.

Hoping something good will come out of that i have been so unwell lately.

Thank you @tyme have you eaten any before? Now that I looked up what they are, the fruit does look familiar to something I used to eat offf a tree on the way to high school.

I just did the online quiz. This is my result:

Your score was 39 out of a possible 50.

Scores in the 33-50 range indicate significant Autistic traits (Autism).

How interesting @Flutterbug9

@Chasingsunsets I'm afraid they're escaped for good (the Peachfaces).

Look like they're having a good time.

Captive-bred birds rarely survive, once they've escaped.

They usually don't know how to find food & water for themselves.

Looks like those Peachfaces are doing okay though, they don't look stressed...

Hi @Chasingsunsets That mottled White Bird (your picture), is the same species as Homing Pigeons.

Homing Pigeons are the European Rock Dove species.

Yours is just an unusual white variegated form of that.

The same Dove that you see huge flocks of in city parks etc.

Introduced/ feral, of course (not native).
