What has been your highlight today, no matter how big or small? Come share 🫶

What has been your highlight today, no matter how big or small? Come share 🫶

Hi everyone! This is my first ever forum post so do hope it lands where it’s meant to 🤣

Most days, I like to find a highlight 😊. Usually, that means during a walk with my dog, I try to spot something different, something cool or something that brings me some happiness. Whether it’s something big or small, it doesn’t matter. A highlight can be anything!

I love taking photos and would really like to share and see what you've come across. Something that made you smile, sparked your interest, or simply caught your eye. For me, it’s all the little things that count on the hard days.

To start, I’d like to share these beautiful birds I came across today. They like to appear like branches of a tree or the tree itself. They are called Tawny Frogmouth’s. Has anyone else seen these types of birds? My pics below -(hopefully not too small to see two in the tree on the left pic).

What have you seen today? ☀️💛🙏

Thank you for sharing that story @REDLINEZ750 ; I agree that we never really know how much impact our interactions with someone can have, often we don't hear the positive feedback. I am glad you took the lady's idea to call the police for help rather than freeze. I can imagine if you were used to police being a negative experience that would be so hard and scary to do. I am so glad to hear that it turned out a positive experience and they were able to help get you to a safe truck stop where you could have shelter, rest and recharge the phone.

I don't think your call to lifeline was a dumb or silly thing either; you were in need of help and also upset from the family interaction. That's what support lines are for. I remember hearing some that say its OK to call *before* you are in crisis and even if you are just feeling really down and lonely and vulnerable. It doesn't have to wait until you are at crisis - sometimes it is easier to be helped before that stage too. 🙂

Looking forward to hearing later how the shift goes/went @Blackcloud. I hope you get some who are able to show you appreciation and thank you for your time - but also know that when people are in a crisis state they may not think to express gratitude at the time, so don't take it negatively if they don't.

@RebelliousAngel hope you get some rest/relaxation, sounds well needed. Movie sounds a good idea.

I think I am taking this afternoon off for a bit - or at least until a bit later this afternoon. I am at a stage in my prep work for Saturday where I need to wait for some help from others in the family to setup, and can't do it too far in advance - but could do it tonight or tomorrow. But it is expected to rain tomorrow, so not sure if I should put the gazebo up today (before the ground gets wet under!) or tomorrow afternoon after the rain (if it stops!) so it's not exposed for as long... But I don't have anyone to help me this evening I don't think. But in theory I should be able to set it up myself, as long as I have help moving some items from the area to set it up on.

Amen hot, but not too hot coffee @Shaz51

The highlight of my day?

I taught myself how to use my new Makita 40v Plunge Saw.

Wait, it gets better.

The first two cuts I did, were Freehand Straight cut 900mm and 33* angle cut 400mm. @Bill16 @TAB @Former-Member That’s right fellas didn’t even use the rails.

I’ve been sweating over using this tool since I purchased it in June.

@ENKELI I taught myself how to use my new tool 🥳 😳 I’ve been scared to try for 3 months.

@Bunniekins @PeppyPatti

@PeppyPatti you are too kind. I don't consider my gardening a gift to be honest. I used to a k*ll plants just by looking at them.

And as for choc mint biscuits, I can't have them in the house or I'd eat the whole pack in one sitting.

I'm sad that you are not feeling good. And I'm sending big smooshie hugs to you.

You are perfect just the way you are xo 😍

@Blackcloud I hope your shift today went well. Thanks for volunteering there we need more people like you 🙏

@Glisten, the tool sounds like it’s working well for you! What’s your project you are working on?

I saw two double barred finches while walking to my appointment today. Was a nice lift! These guys are really flighty but managed at least one good pic lucky for live view these days on phone cameras 😂

@Glisten Tomaatti you are the only woman I know who gets excited over power tools. I love it! Having said that I have used one several times when cutting wood for the outdoor fire we had, except I was introduced to it as a drop saw. I gathered it was the same beast.

Congratulations on taming the saw, I tend to have no fear which is not always a good thing. I nearly took off the top of my finger with an axe more than once.

Got a quote to have a tree lopped today - $2000 to chop down and remove. What a shame you didn't have a cherry picker and a chainsaw, I'd rather give the cash to you with a bonus in muffins!

Keep me updated on TARMAC. You probably can't go into specifics but I hope team G goes well.
