What has been your highlight today, no matter how big or small? Come share 🫶

Hi everyone! This is my first ever forum post so do hope it lands where it’s meant to 🤣

Most days, I like to find a highlight 😊. Usually, that means during a walk with my dog, I try to spot something different, something cool or something that brings me some happiness. Whether it’s something big or small, it doesn’t matter. A highlight can be anything!

I love taking photos and would really like to share and see what you've come across. Something that made you smile, sparked your interest, or simply caught your eye. For me, it’s all the little things that count on the hard days.

To start, I’d like to share these beautiful birds I came across today. They like to appear like branches of a tree or the tree itself. They are called Tawny Frogmouth’s. Has anyone else seen these types of birds? My pics below -(hopefully not too small to see two in the tree on the left pic).

What have you seen today? ☀️💛🙏

My father died when I was 11 and much maligned as a so called schizophrenic, but as a small child I thought I was loved in a wholesome way by him, so try and honour the good he did. It is part of what fuels my mental health advocacy. @Chasingsunsets

Sorry to hear @Appleblossom that your died when you were 11. It’s so nice to hear you honour the good he did.

I definitely need to focus on the good memories more in my life, thankyou for the reminder, it’s definitely a good one 🙏☀️

I try to do things in honour of my dad too @Appleblossom

I was in my late 20’s when he passed away. Due to a stroke that changed his behaviour I lost the dad I loved when I was about 13.

as a friend recently said in regards to something from their past. Person X who had an easy going nature had a stroke which left the outside and replaced person X on the inside with a stranger who became a monster.

I cherish the photos I have of my dad taken during primary school and before I started school. Memories that are painful and special at the same time

My highlight today was meeting a nice young lady at university. I sat next to her in the human sciences orientation. I grabbed her phone number so I could connect some more. Then I bumped into her again in the Aboriginal building. Turns out she is also an Aboriginal student. Small world. I just texted her, turns out one of her friends is in my Math class.

Glad you are connecting on different levels at uni @Oaktree

thanks @Chasingsunsets

@Flutterbug9 yes, we can grieve people who are still alive. Sorry you had that experience with your father.

I am still grateful for all the good things, including you forum folk. Its great seeing what people value and share. We are all so much more than diagnosis or label.

Yes I am currently studying, but only part-time for me. I started last year but my life become very chaotic very quickly so I kind of just ended up doing one unit each semester...so very slow for me. Not the start I was expecting, but I'm moving forward. I'm glad I didn't drop out because it's been good for me to do something beside processing things if that makes sense. I think at this stage I'll probably continue just doing part-time as I gain more energy, and find a bit of work alongside. That's the plan for now unless something extreme happens.

It's a great community to be part of, good for me to meet people and socialise, have a break from my daily life. Today was very hot, and very busy again. We had about 400 attending our event today, I was stuffed when I got home.

What did you and @Bunniekins @Chasingsunsets @heartathome @ENKELI @Oaktree @SmilingGecko @TAB @Cuddlebear study, if you don't mind me asking? You don't have to share if you don't want too. 😊

I would love to see some photos. That would be great!

I think the ocean will always hold a very special place in my heart. I grew up close to the water, we had a boat, and during school holidays I would spend weeks out on it. I remember fishing, swimming, catching crabs, collecting shells and rocks, and building big sandcastles. I have always loved being surrounded by water. Some of my few happiest memories as a child are of being surrounded by the ocean, and even now as an adult, the ocean is still where I feel most at home. Does that make sense, it may sound a bit weird.. but that's how it feels for me anyways. 😊

I enjoy sitting places looking over water, especially the choppy bay @SaltwaterSoul

Rolling of the waves, white caps forming and dropping away, the sound of the waves lapping against the rocks. I find it very relaxing and can spend hours there.

is quite a long drive for me now due to where I live. Worth the drive though. Used to be my main go to areas at times when MH was far from good.

im city born and bred, country at heart and enjoy being near bays and oceans. No wonder my mind gets confused at times. 🤣 🤣
