What has been your highlight today, no matter how big or small? Come share 🫶

Hi everyone! This is my first ever forum post so do hope it lands where it’s meant to 🤣

Most days, I like to find a highlight 😊. Usually, that means during a walk with my dog, I try to spot something different, something cool or something that brings me some happiness. Whether it’s something big or small, it doesn’t matter. A highlight can be anything!

I love taking photos and would really like to share and see what you've come across. Something that made you smile, sparked your interest, or simply caught your eye. For me, it’s all the little things that count on the hard days.

To start, I’d like to share these beautiful birds I came across today. They like to appear like branches of a tree or the tree itself. They are called Tawny Frogmouth’s. Has anyone else seen these types of birds? My pics below -(hopefully not too small to see two in the tree on the left pic).

What have you seen today? ☀️💛🙏

Thank you for sharing part of your journey and explaining that to me @Bunniekins I really appreciate it, and I understand a bit more about you❣️ You've got a hard call but for what it's worth, I think you're doing the right thing! I can tell by your worry that you're a good mum! Now you've 'just' got to hang in there! One day at a time, hey. How long has he been in the house for? How often do you see him? It will take quite a big adjustment for both of you! It must be really hard! I know I'm finding letting go harder than I thought because I've been looking after him for so long. He hasn't rung me since I put those boundaries up last Thursday and he normally rings me most night. I don't think he's a happy boy, but I've got to follow through with what I said. It's hard. They can pull on those heart strings!

@Appleblossom hey Apple yes they are unique when they made my son they definitely broke the mold. you are right it is important to look after ourselves as a way to look after our sons. there is no doubt i am improving slow and steady improvement which makes me stronger to look after my middle son and indeed my other children who have been so badly affected by this drama over so many years.

thank god for the NDIS where would i be without my supports i hate to think. they make me whole again and for that i am so thankful. bun x

@Bunniekins yes, the hard thing is that he wouldn't understand. I've had a little bit of experience working with people with Asperger's and I know that change is extremely difficult for people on the spectrum. It would be distressing for you and your son, definitely.

I will definitely lift you both up in prayer my sweet Bun, I hope you manage to get a good nights' rest tonight, I know you will need it xoxo

I am not too bad @Cuddlebear a bit up and down, but managing to get on and do things like table tennis. I was pretty hopeless today as I've had nearly 2 months off with going to sport comps, there wer holidays for table tennis, 7 Bridges walk for Cancer Council recently, and then my knee too sore.

Anyhow I did improve as time went on but not back to my pre-break form. Not that that was a high standard but it's more fun the longer rallies you can have.

I really feel for you @Cuddlebear I only know my own experience, what I've heard from others, and what I've read, but it is a difficult and unfortunately reasonably long journey, depending on the dose you started on and of course the actual medication (because withdrawal differs for different meds). Also, I am disgusted on your behalf that there is no psychiatric outpatient follow-up. I have joined a couple of MH advocacy groups, but have not done more than that, an occasional survey (but sometimes I don't fit the criteria). This has been a recent thing so am not across most of it, but it is interesting the difference between the states, of course there is the ever present city v the rest of the country divide. But overall there is no doubt mental health is the poor cousin of physical health and that is under-resourced and under-funded.

I do have a lived experience health service advisory role in NSW with regard to survivors of CSA and health service interaction. So I am focussing on that at this stage. But wished I could find something with a broader MH reach.

@REDLINEZ750 yes you hit the nail on the head it is for him and me and if for me will ultimately help him and indeed his brother and sister. what a story about your uncle and your poor nan i can understand her feelings of guilt. the thing is you must prepare your children for a life without you it is only fair even though it hurts at times. thanks Red 🙂 x

Yes @Chasingsunsets I hadn't really played for years before this year, maybe a bit of a hit if there was a table somewhere. Not that I ever played it as a sport I don't think.

I was pretty hopeless this week because I haven't played for a couple of months being away at sport comps and table tennis had holidays, then I did 7 Bridges walk and then my knee was too sore. Anyhow I did get a bit better toward the end of the time and I did hit some winners. I definitely won't be going to any Masters Games for table tennis!

I have done the occasional hobby thing while working and probably my longest term hobby is photography. I like learning and am always going down a rabbit hole about this and that. So I suppose I read a bit, which has mainly been non-fiction.

Tomorrow I am doing my volunteering - which is at a kind of soup kitchen. I do breakfast so that's me getting up at 5:30am. Then I've got to get my car registered (hopefully)

Do you work the same shift all the time or are you on a roster

Yum @Chasingsunsets I love a good self-saucing pudding. Although saying that, I haven't had one for ages

Tonight I made teryaki chicken fried rice - which is a recipe I just made up!
