@Bunniekins ooh Bun that sounds tough for you. Is there anyone at the supported living accommodation able to help you in explaining to your son that it is not temporary?

@heartathome @Bunniekins The 3 of us love our sons the best we can. Our sons are probably quite unique.

My son was given NDIS, 10 years ago, but couldn’t get it to work for him, as he was dismissed a lot so, he has used zero dollars for 9 years. I tried to be careful not to be over involved but accused of it at times, by people who didn’t have the patience or expertise. For what it’s worth, he has autism and Bipolar 1 diagnosis and I was told by a nurse his symptoms were extreme, when manic. Yes, I know he can be intense, but 98% of the time he is pretty stoic.

5 years after he stopped using NDIS, my suicidality was so serious, as I struggled to improve his life, that I went to NEAMI and was put on NDIS for me.

Bottom line, so many of my family members fell through the cracks (permanently to death), so now I accept, it is my responsibility to make the most of my resources to improve my life and that seems to help my son. We don’t have to worry that he feels I think less of him as being disabled, as I am the one on NDIS now. I get to use my education and work and lived experience to make the system work. I never asked for NDIS but was rolled onto it. Being an old lady and an ex public servant in 3 departments, with a range of roles in private sector, I don’t take all the stuff ups personally.

My highlight today was a good session with my psychologist. As young people, my sister and I spent every spare dollar on therapy, so I am grateful for NDIS paying for it, now. I feel I have “earned it “. It is absolutely reasonable and necessary, not a frill or a treat. If services weren’t so casual about death rates I wouldn’t be on disability.

Oh @Kashmina what a big inconvenience for you!! Were they able to get your car started?? Definitely thinking of you anything car related for me it’s reallly stressful. I am hoping there were able to get it going for you 🤞

nana was 84 when she passed 2016 and he still ended up 24hr assisted living only he was grieving his mum which he had no concept of during the transition instead of having her to help him adjust.

nana always denied he ever hurt her deliberately and she was a tough old duck thing is dekiberately or not still getting hurt she just Nanna born st patricks day smoke a pack of reds a day long as i remember coughs & farts in movement just cant argue with her.

point is i know your not over cooking things and i know you love him unconditionally and i understand its not you dont want him at home its best for both of you if he stays in assisted living....

One of yesterday’s and today’s highlight has to be: I baked a cake/ self saucing pudding-Yum!

Felt like cake all day yesterday so decided to go through the pantry and found this one, a sticky date self saucing pudding 😋. I’m in the overnight shifts for the next two days so will be limited contact here but always thinking of you all and hope you have a lovely night 😀
