What has been your highlight today, no matter how big or small? Come share 🫶

What has been your highlight today, no matter how big or small? Come share 🫶

Hi everyone! This is my first ever forum post so do hope it lands where it’s meant to 🤣

Most days, I like to find a highlight 😊. Usually, that means during a walk with my dog, I try to spot something different, something cool or something that brings me some happiness. Whether it’s something big or small, it doesn’t matter. A highlight can be anything!

I love taking photos and would really like to share and see what you've come across. Something that made you smile, sparked your interest, or simply caught your eye. For me, it’s all the little things that count on the hard days.

To start, I’d like to share these beautiful birds I came across today. They like to appear like branches of a tree or the tree itself. They are called Tawny Frogmouth’s. Has anyone else seen these types of birds? My pics below -(hopefully not too small to see two in the tree on the left pic).

What have you seen today? ☀️💛🙏

@ENKELI

I am selling poppies again tomorrow at both the shopping centre and Bunnings. I am going to the shopping centre for 2 hours and then Bunnings for 3 hours.

@Oaktree that's really good. Bunnings is a great place to set up, thanks for the suggestion, I will check my local Bunnings tomorrow. Any excuse to go to Bunnings lol!

Can be tough to know what to choose hey @Blackcloud - especially if you're not yet sure what sort of work you wanna go into. Like yes, a psych degree may open more doors, but counselling might be more aligned with your values. Do you have like a career advisor at your uni, cos you could chat to them about what pathway is best!

@ENKELI any time 😊

OMG @Oaktree 'Funnings' that is iconic!! And go you, sounds like you've raised some nice coin! Love it 😍

@Jynx

Funnings is what @ENKELI often calls Bunning when talking with @Glisten

Yes we did well this morning. Sold quite a bit. I think we definitely raised a fair bit of money. We were taking cash and Eftpos so I don't know how well we did. The RSL were there 4 more hours this afternoon as well.

@Jynx it won't let me like/support your post haha, and well, with that, I guess we'll see how I can progress throughout this trimester first hehe 😄

I've been thinking that if I were to start doing a cert IV in mental health peer work at some point then yea doing the placement for that one, as well as me currently volunteering at a crisis service would allow me to have the opportunity to hopefully obtain and build those skills overtime

the other day the team leader (from the service I'm volunteering at) sent us all an email regarding a paid role that requires you to talk to help-seekers on the phone, so I sent her an email telling her I'm interested. however, I really don't think I'm capable of being able to provide support to help-seekers over the phone and I do think I would get an anxiety attack too if I actually talk to them (I'm waaaaay better at texting/chatting to someone than if I were to talk to them).

the chatting/texting department is the one I'm currently volunteering at right now and so its easier for me to be able to come up with things to say in the moment compared to if I speak.

Hi @Cuddlebear I have been a bit up and down today to be honest.. Lately I seem to start pretty down and then I improve. It is a positive that I improve, but the next day seems to be the same.

Anyhow, in the afternoon I managed to get my back lawn mown and some other gardening things and some other tasks done..

Knee seems a bit better today, which is good, thanks for asking. Physio gave me some exercises, but only gentle ones, which I can manage without a problem. Of course they will get more intense gradually. I previously wasn't very sporty but I am enjoying this later in life sportiness.I certainly would never have dreamed I'd be at the Australian Masters Games, so it's an interesting feeling as it's not something I've aimed for very long at all.

Oh my goodness @Cuddlebear I can not fathom that they would cut your psychological support. That seems so wrong. I feel I want to be enraged on your behalf (I hope you don't mind) - I only have to read it, you have to live it.

I feel for you with the tapering situation, I know everyone's situation is different, but I have had difficulty with it in the past. I didn't start from a particularly high dose, so I don't know what that is like, but I suppose it depends what your body is used to.

Yes I actually forgot about the dreams, I had that too. I think it's possibly expected you will get some of the psychological symptoms. I found that they did decrease again after the tapering finished, but obviously everything is so individual.

Yes, you are correct tapering should be done very slowly and tailored to the individual. I say keep advocating for yourself. Do you have a psychiatrist at all? Is it possible for the psychologist to link you in with public mental health, to see a psychiatrist for the tapering.

I was sorry to hear your friend could not visit on friday.

I hope you have had some good interactions on the forums today.

Today started with a thunderstorm but it did not produce much rain, it's been overcast all day but quite warm.

I hope tomorrow is a better day for you

Tomorrow we are doing some modified training, due to our venue being used for a different sport competition. It is supposed to be a bit cooler, but not raining tomorrow.
