What has been your highlight today, no matter how big or small? Come share 🫶

Hi everyone! This is my first ever forum post so do hope it lands where it’s meant to 🤣

Most days, I like to find a highlight 😊. Usually, that means during a walk with my dog, I try to spot something different, something cool or something that brings me some happiness. Whether it’s something big or small, it doesn’t matter. A highlight can be anything!

I love taking photos and would really like to share and see what you've come across. Something that made you smile, sparked your interest, or simply caught your eye. For me, it’s all the little things that count on the hard days.

To start, I’d like to share these beautiful birds I came across today. They like to appear like branches of a tree or the tree itself. They are called Tawny Frogmouth’s. Has anyone else seen these types of birds? My pics below -(hopefully not too small to see two in the tree on the left pic).

What have you seen today? ☀️💛🙏

Hi @GezzaP I was studying to work in the community services industry advocating for others but yesterday I decided to not go down that road and have withdrawn. Long story - no regrets.

Interesting topics to teach. Did you enjoy it? It is good the reading bug is still there 😊

Sorry you aren't feeling great @Kashmina I know what it's like to having to keep changing meds. I've been on anti-depressants (among others) for about 30 years and have had a few changes in that time. I have a lot of anxiety too! I presume from CPTSD.

I hope you find a course that suits you, if that's what you want to do. Maybe take it easy for the moment. Two of my goals with a SANE counsellor was walking and getting more involved in the community. Just what you plan to do! I've been wanting to get out this morning to have a cuppa but am too anxious! Slow is the way to go coming off meds. It's a lot harder done than said.

I've got no plans so far but will have to get out of my small unit today. The coffee shops shut at 2pm so I've got a bit of time for a cuppa somewhere. We'll see! 💛

@Till23 Hello lovely how are you today? I’m really glad you were able to join the walking group and thwt your knee held up. Also awesome that you got to connect a bit with a couple of the ladies. I hope your knee isnt any worse today and good timing seeing the Physio today too. I hope your knee is getting some relief with the Physio.

Wow you were in an Australian Masters Competition! That’s amazing! I’ve never been great at sport but I have fun playing it.

It was just disappointing the psychologist cancellations. It’s at a time I need them but I saw her yesterday. Spent our session just crying going over the taper situation and talking about r getting through the weekend.

Yes the mental health services are very over stretched. It’s hard to get the support when you need it. The social worker is not via NDIS but from public services. NDIS cut off all my psychological supports. It’s led to a crisis for me as that previous funding was keeping me steady. They’re cutting psychological supports even for people who should qualify through NDIS.

They’re cutting psychological withdrawals are awful. I’m getting all the things you mentioned as well as severe anxiety, depression, chest pain, terrible dreams, passive SI and unable to do basic things and so much dizziness and blanking out. I’ve been advocating to slow down the taper as it’s just too much going so quick. The newest science says tapering should be slow going over months or even upto a couple of years. My GP just wants to get it over and done with but my body isnt coping. I have other chronic illness too so that is being impacted.

Today I’m up and just trying hard to cope. It’s cold and raining in Melbourne so I’ll be indoors. Pretty much alone so hoping for some company here on forums.

Tapering is so hard @Cuddlebear . My psychiatrist changed a dose level of one of my meds and I had a reaction overnight. Not good. Thinking of you in this hard time.

@Kashmina I enjoyed teaching mostly but got frustrated with students not doing the reading. I hated the administration. I did some research and have been published (2 books and some chapters and journal articles). I was president of a academic association for a couple of years and we hosted a conference then. I like some fellow academics and I am still friends with some of them. One in the US.
I’m glad you have no regrets from withdrawing from your course. Any idea what you’ll do now?

Thank you @heartathome. Yes you understand completely 😊 I too have been struggling with various levels of anxiety for about 45 years. It can be very tiring and hard to manage at times.

I sat down after withdrawing from my course today and thought what would be good for my mental health right now? Good ideas from Sane 😍

Oh bugga about anxiety this morning, I do hope you get out ❤️

im exposed that wind resistance all the time but i got handle bars and refuse to duck down like the clowns doing 120 on freeway as cars go past them 😱 i dont know if they think its an aero dynamic thing or they got thier cool on even if i want to i wont because of them i just cop it or roll off if visions affected.

nakeds worth sacrificing bit of extra top end and a heap of plastics id damage plus i like the up right position and can muck around with handle bars. @Mustang67

they put turbo chargers on the hyabusa coz 1300cc isnt enough 😳

even on a perfectly still night stars shining owls hooting gets rough 180 upwards without the fairing dynamics to cut through and shield the atmosphere

which is another reason i shouldnt ride full fairing id be able to hold it open longer and yeah if i was ever inclined to head out late at night id probably take my plate off befpre leaving. already in front of a judge for 60 over worlds asleep and the cops know it hasnt fallen off so if them lights come on you know that they know and the chasers can match the bikes on freeway just dont reach it as quick ugh got excited sorry

thanks for cool pic!

I can understand your frustration @GezzaP with the students. I too have worked in a university but not as an academic. It sounds like it was the research part was more fulfilling.

I am not sure as yet what I am going to do. I am still young enough to keep working and want to. I suffered from burnout a few years back and I am still making my way back to health. It is much slower than I thought but I am glad I am not where I was then.

I feel reading, getting back into nature, exercising this body and being as kind as I can to myself is in order for the next few months 😍
