TW: Danger don't read. Taken by the police again for mentioning depression

TW: Danger don't read. Taken by the police again for mentioning depression

OK so apparently we have to post the following now:

*This post is not meant to offend any moderators.

*I am ok.

*I would like compassion and understanding from the commiunity.

I just got out of hospital. I was taken by the cops in the evening and humiliated in front of my neighbours. Why? I felt very, very stressed and as part of my stupid "safety plan" I had made with the counsellor I was seeing I called a crisis line [censored by moderator].

I said the phrase "sometimes work makes me so stressed I wish I wasn't here". And that was it. Got the cops called on me. Got yelled at. Got locked in a psychward for 8 hours. Got my trauma ramped up. Got no help at all.

One of the worst things is in that situation I don't trust that I can be honest due to how they've treated me and other people I've known in the past, so I had to lie to get myself out of there.

I had to lie about my past traumas and MH issues becuase in the past what happened to me is if I didn't I would be locked up for longer without getting help (as they do not have the staff).

It is absolutely insane that in the middle of a hospital I feel I have to lie about my health because if I didn't the very hospital and hospital staff would make my illness worse.

And they lie too. They must have thought I was an idiot but I looked up my rights spedifically how long they can detain you for: 6 hours in QLD if you don't see anyone. So I patiently and politely waited that 6 hours. And when I didn't see anyone and the time was up I went to leave. Well, the nurse ran into the nurses station and simply added a further 6 hours. The problem is only psychologists and psychiatrists are able to make that decision and when I pointed that out (again politely) she called security over. So, I was illegally detained. And what can I do about it? Nothing.

So here I am, back at work the next day absolutely tired - no sleep, no food, but hey life doesn't stop, so get back out there and make 'the man' some more money! Have to pretend that I didn't have one of the worst nights in my life. Have to pretend that everything is fantastic. Can't even take a sick day off to recover.

Horray for Duty of Care!

Hi @Jlol I'm so sorry that you went through that last night. And to be back at work today sounds incredibly jarring

I really appreciate you letting us know that you're safe and what you're needing from the community. I hope we can be here for you today

I'm just going to send a quick email regarding some edits that we've made to your post, please feel free to view this when you're feeling able as I know this has been a hard 24 hours

Hi @Ru-bee

I did exaclty what you said in the last post! That is not fair! I specifically clarified this with you. I did everything you asked!

None the less I am ok with the parts you've removed and I have edited the other part. However, I really disagree with using the term "I feel" becuase it is intentionally disenfranchising.

"Feeling" that something is happening is different to experiencing something that is happening. It should not be your right to tell me what I experienced and what you think I "felt" I experienced. This is a well rehearsed rhetoric to take away my power by negating my experience and turning it into a nebulous set of feelings instead of a tangible set of facts.
I never said this would happen to other people (I didn't even mention the state or location it happened). I used the word "you" once as a turn of phrase.
However, although it makes me very upset I have modified the original post to comply with what you wanted.

I hear you @Jlol, perhaps we could workshop an alternative edit that does not feel dismissive of your experience. That's not our intention and we'd be happy to find an alternative wording with you. We agree that words are very important and hold deeper meaning.

If you're open to this, we could workshop this here or via email, which would you prefer?

Great @Jlol I did just want to note that this might not be something that we can always do this way, but I'm happy to have time this morning and know this is important for you

How would something like this sit with you:

One of the worst things is in that situation I don't trust that I can be honest, so I had to lie to get myself out of there.

I had to lie about my past traumas and MH issues becuase in the past what happened to me is if I didn't I would be locked up for longer without getting help (as they do not have the staff).

Re: TW: Danger don't read. Taken by the police again for mentioning depression

How about this:

One of the worst things is in that situation I don't trust that I can be honest due to how they've treated me and other people I've known in the past, so I had to lie to get myself out of there.

I had to lie about my past traumas and MH issues becuase in the past what happened to me is if I didn't I would be locked up for longer without getting help (as they do not have the staff).

I've added the bit 'and other people I've known' because it is true and to make it sound like it's just not me or some behaviour. I feel it is important to demonstrate the bad behaviour of these people as not just something unique to me (again, so people don't think I'm the cause of the problem).

That looks good to me @Jlol, would you like to make those changes or would you like me to?

Thank you for being understanding and working with me on this, I really appreciate it

I have changed it @Ru-bee

Re: TW: Danger don't read. Taken by the police again for mentioning depression

@Ru-bee funny how the entire focus of this post has been derailed into a conversation about your mercurial guidelines and none of it has actually been about the post and what happened...

Re: TW: Danger don't read. Taken by the police again for mentioning depression

I agree @Jlol in that way email can be beneficial for these conversations. I'd be happy to move our conversation relating to the guidelines so that the focus can be on the original post if you'd like?
