I was watching the footy tonight @Chasingsunsets . Close one indeed. My team never made the semis (Swans) so I didn't really have a preferred team tonight. In the end I think Gold Coast deserved to win.

I also watched the earlier game between GWS and Hawthorne. GWS almost made a big comeback, but faded in the end.

Looks like the underdogs (away teams) are getting up this round. Interesting.

Been keeping an eye on the NRL matches too, the final H&A round. My team, the Raiders, will be in the semis.

And hey, what a good win by the Wallabies over Argentina.

Hello @tyme @Chasingsunsets @Emelia8 @Eve7 @Shaz51 and all sports lovers here. Thank you for sharing your love of different sports here- what a variety! Everything from athletics and track and field to rugby league/rugby union to AFL/NRL and tennis.

Time for the wrap of sports I’ve been following.
- AFL Finals Week 2 is on which means that Adelaide will play Hawthorn on Friday night in Adelaide thanks to Hawthorn defeating the GWS Giants on Saturday afternoon. Brisbane will play the Gold Coast Suns on Saturday night at the Gabba which I’m expecting to suffer a defeat for my team, Brisbane, due to their injury concerns. I could be wrong though. Who ever wins out of Adelaide/ Hawks, they play Geelong with the winner of Brisbane/Gold Coast playing Collingwood the following week.

NRL- Week 1 of the finals start on Friday night with the Storm playing the Bulldogs. Hopefully the Storm win after 2 weeks of loses! @Emelia8 I’m cheering on Canberra to win over the Broncos with the story being that Reece Walsh from the Broncos is suffering an injury, so hopefully it’s a Raiders win! I’d also like the Sharks and the Warriors to win their elimination finals as well as I’m over Penriths winning streak in the grand finals!

As for the US Open finals, Aryna Sabalenka won the women’s final with Carlos Alcaraz winning the men’s final against Jannick Sinner in 4 sets. Carlos is the now the new world 1 in the men’s singles title. Davis Cup for men is also starting soon with Alex Di Minaur back in Australia ready to play when that commences soon.

The world athletics championships starts soon so I plan to watch this as well as obviously watching the Storm and Brisbane Lions on Friday and Saturday night.

Love this thread @Judi9877 I haven't been watching much televised sports lately, but it's fun to get to read some re-caps

I've been getting into local sports though! I'd been taking my dog to go and watch some local footy which is only a few blocks away, and then more recently my partner has been getting interested in the local soccer team so I've been going with him to games. It's been a really fun way to feel more connected to the community!

NRL and AFL finals again tonight. My tips are: Melbourne Storm and Adelaide Crows.

The World Athletics Championships in Tokyo start tomorrow as well plus more AFL and NRL finals action for the rest of the weekend.

Hello @Ru-bee @Eve7 @tyme @Emelia8 @Chasingsunsets @Shaz51 and all sports lovers here today. Another big weekend coming up in the world of sports!

Hawthorn won their final last night in the AFL so they’ll play Geelong next weekend for a chance to make it to the Grand Final after defeating Adelaide last night. Brisbane play the Gold Coast Suns tonight with the winner to play Collingwood next weekend. Go the Brisbane Lions! If Brisbane lose, I’ll be having my version of Mad Monday in Echuca as I’ve booked a 4 day escape to the Murray River leaving on Monday morning. I need to get back to my happy place to recharge!

In terms of NRL action, the Melbourne Storm won last night against the Bulldogs and have a week off. Go the Storm! Today, it’s the Sharks vs Roosters with me hoping for a Sharks win. Penrith also play the Warriors today with me hoping for a Warriors win. Both of these games are elimination finals with the losers ending their season after tonight. Canberra play the Brisbane Broncos tomorrow afternoon in Canberra with me hoping for a Raiders win.

V8 Supercars are at The Bend in South Australia this weekend so I’ll try to have a look at that along with the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo starting today. Go Aussies! Tennis is also on in Sydney with Davis Cup on this weekend as well with Alex Di Minaur playing for the Aussies.
