Feeling caged up

Feeling caged up

The recent medication changes has calmed my brain down. I’m still feeling caged up, I know my psych is looking at more frequent therapy sessions if we can get more under ED plan. Once a month sessions aren’t enough. It just feels like the traumatic memories aren’t ending, I’ve been in therapy for years. It’s taking so long to heal. I just want to get to the point the body flashbacks aren’t so regular

loss and grief are indeed challenging, it's great to know we have each other to lean on @GezzaP @creative_writer 💖

@rav3n Thanks for your support. I really need it at the moment. Very depressed. Hanging on to speak to my psychiatrist tomorrow.

Re: Feeling caged up

@GezzaP I’m sorry that your sister is refusing to talk to you and it’s okay to grieve. Dreams can be emotionally charging, I dreamt of my grandma when she was really sick, it was super overwhelming. I never really told anyone about what happened in the dream, still hard to talk about it. I knew her time was coming.

@rav3n death is just one of those events that are hard to mentally prepare for. Everyone’s time is limited, in moments like these you realise the importance of spending time with people that you love. She also lived overseas, that also adds another layer.

@creative_writer I don’t remember my dreams. Just know I had nightmares because they wake me up. Only remember one I had in Spanish translates as what are you doing to me? I just feel my sister is being cruel to me. I made a mistake. I apologised but she won’t forgive me. Having a beer. Shouldn’t really but feel like a drink.

Re: Feeling caged up

@GezzaP nightmares can be very unsettling, even if you don’t remember them.

Families can be super complex, you’ve done what you could to mend things with her, and it does sound like you care for you.

I haven’t ever used alcohol, but I’ve used something else in the past to cope. It helped me feel less depressed for a bit, but then I crashed. All we can do is the best we can. Obviously we do need to work on finding other ways of coping, but that can take time

Re: Feeling caged up

I only had one beer @creative_writer . That is all I will have. The nightmares are terrible. I succeeded in showering, washing my hair and going to the shops today so that is something. The only non-prescription drug I use is nicotine unfortunately. We have thunder here now. It has been warm here today but now it is cooling down. Pussycat is going in and out all afternoon.

Re: Feeling caged up

@GezzaP that sounds like an achievement, especially when it feels so rough.

I’ve been clean off the thing I’ve mentioned, I ran out a long time ago. Right now I’ve had problems with ED, that’s become my unhelpful coping strategy.

Sounds like you’ve had crazy weather. You have a cat? I just went for a walk and saw a few kitties, one was so small

Re: Feeling caged up

@creative_writer What’s ED? Yes I have a cat. She has been giving me lots of loving. Animals seem to know when you need support. Before I got sick (I have late onset bipolar disorder) I did a PhD in history on the Cuban revolution and sports. Then published a book with one of my examiners in the US. We are still friends. Published a few other things too. Went on to work as an academic in politics specialised in poor countries especially Spanish America. Took a redundancy package when it all got too much.

Glad to hear you were able to go for a walk and saw some kitties. Maybe they were a stray litter. I so wish people would desex their cats.

Hmm, I can understand how the distance would create a sense of protection in a way. I can also imagine that being under stress about her health may have subconsciously impacted your sense of grounding and regulation too? How are things feeling today? Here if you need to talk, okay? @creative_writer 💛

Re: Feeling caged up

@AuntGlow I think it did affect me subsciously. The chilling dream I had months ago isn't leaving my mind, her death has reminded me of it. I know it was a dream, it is too painful to talk about.

My emotions are heightened right now, I think I just have a lot going on. There is the recent bereavement, talking about heavy stuff during psych appointments isn't easy either.
