Feeling caged up

Feeling caged up

The recent medication changes has calmed my brain down. I’m still feeling caged up, I know my psych is looking at more frequent therapy sessions if we can get more under ED plan. Once a month sessions aren’t enough. It just feels like the traumatic memories aren’t ending, I’ve been in therapy for years. It’s taking so long to heal. I just want to get to the point the body flashbacks aren’t so regular

Re: Feeling caged up

hearing you about how those dreams can be a lot at times, and how distance makes the grieving process feel a bit different. i've missed the funerals of a few relatives too, but in my case, i wasn't close to these relatives as you were with your grandma @creative_writer in my culture, the person's life is grieved together through certain ceremonies- there's a lot of connectedness, families take care of each other and cook for each other, pray together, mourn together, etc. is that similar for your culture?

also if this topic is too heavy to discuss right now, i absolutely understand and we can change topics - please don't feel like you have to respond to my post.

@rav3n we have the Janazah, the body is first cleansed and prepared for burial, then the funeral prayer happens then the burial. This all happens very shortly after death. It's standard for people to give their condolences and prayers through phone calls and visits.

It's not just the grief that's heavy, it's hard when this happens when I already had a lot going on. It sort of feels like a lot of things are happening all at once

I understand, and you don't have to talk about it unless you are ready and feel like you're in a safe and held space. @creative_writer

I can only imagine how big things must be feeling... I know that we can't simply turn off pain or grief, and that it will take time to process what has happened, but what is one thing you can do for yourself that might be soothing tonight? 💛

Re: Feeling caged up

that makes a lot of sense too @creative_writer when you're already juggling other things and these feelings pile up, it can feel overwhelming and even confusing sometimes. like where do we even start!?

it's absolutely okay to feel this way right now, and i hope with time, this weight will feel lighter. i hope you continue to be gentle with yourself 💗

Re: Feeling caged up

@AuntGlow I had a workout session this morning and took a shower afterwards. I’ve been taking it easy today, I’m so exhausted.

@rav3n it’s a lot. At least I’m in the process of getting more support, hopefully the psych sessions will become more frequent. There is a lot to unpack. I think talking about grief has been hard, and I feel haunted by the dream I had a few months ago. I know it was a dream, but it was so intense and felt so real. I saw what I cannot forget. Her death kind of reminded me of the dream. I have multiple mental illnesses, bipolar might be more stable, probably would say I’m still depressed. I live in the state of anxiety, I’ve always had anxiety. Grief just adds to everything I already had

@creative_writer Good on you for having a workout and then showering. I have bipolar and am in depressive phase. My sister not speaking to me has devastated me. I fluctuate between grief, depression and anger.

hi @rav3n @AuntGlow

@GezzaP I try to stay active. I think I need to work on a healthier relationship with exercise. I can do that once I’m able to get more therapy sessions.

Depression can be rough. I’ve had medication changes recently, things were getting a bit out of control, but I do feel better overall. Meds at least help with intensity, even if they don’t take the pain away.

I do believe relationship stresses and grief can add to the bipolar fuel. I think anger, grief and depression is a normal reaction to your situation

Re: Feeling caged up

@creative_writer I used to walk every morning to a jetty and back - took about an hour or so. Because I smoke I can’t do that anymore and I’m aging now. My bipolar has got worse as I’ve aged. Just spoke to my psychiatrist she is changing one of my meds. [edited by moderator] I just don’t know what to do about my sister.

Glad to hear your psychologist is helping and you can keep active. Wish I could.

Re: Feeling caged up

@GezzaP I do hope I am able to stay active, I’m not getting adequate nutrition. I have to get the ED under control.

Bipolar is tricky and sometimes treatment takes trial and error. I think all we can do is work with our supports, do inner work and hope for the best. I know I have other underlying issues that has made my bipolar worse. I’ve been trying to work through trauma

Re: Feeling caged up

@creative_writer I feel traumatised by my sister not talking to me. It has triggered depression. And now she has sent me a text saying the depression is my fault like I’m not sick at all.
