Feeling caged up

Feeling caged up

The recent medication changes has calmed my brain down. I’m still feeling caged up, I know my psych is looking at more frequent therapy sessions if we can get more under ED plan. Once a month sessions aren’t enough. It just feels like the traumatic memories aren’t ending, I’ve been in therapy for years. It’s taking so long to heal. I just want to get to the point the body flashbacks aren’t so regular

Yes psychiatrist had a few suggestions but I have been trying them and they’re not working @creative_writer oh well keep trying. Will take extra meds tonight. She is sending me a script for more meds,

Re: Feeling caged up

Yeah I always get back and neck pain and headaches when hypomanic. @creative_writer Will try to stay up a bit later tonight to hopefully sleep better.

Re: Feeling caged up

Honestly, I think it's a really good idea to listen to your body and know your limits. It's okay for this to take time and your psych is a real one if they are encouraging titration. @creative_writer 💖

What have they suggested for getting the emotions out and sitting with discomfort?

Re: "Maybe I am getting ruminatey, I don't know. What if I am better off broken? Talking makes me feel worse, but I have a lot stuck in me, so I feel trapped. I don't like sitting in my body."

I am sure your mind is wanting to keep you in what feels familiar (which is super common when we are trying new things, so know that this is very normal). I am wondering though, what could you do to soothe the body right now? Or if soothing feels a little too tough at the moment, what could you do to move with the feelings?

Re: Feeling caged up

@GezzaP yoga sounds good. I did yoga once but it wasn’t for me, probably my neck and POTS symptoms being triggered. Pilates helped though, focusing on your breathing with gentle movement can be soothing.

I hope the extra meds help you sleep.

I’m getting urges rn. Not the urges that would be unsafe to act upon, but I know I’m not supposed to due to risks on my mood stability. Craving something that will give me a clearer mind, i.e. help me concentrate and feel less anxious. If I can focus, it’ll be easier to complete tasks and I won’t be stuck on rumination mode. My mind is trying to talk myself into doing what I want to do

What’s rn? @creative_writer

I like yoga I’m too weak to do most pilates. I ‘ve always been a weakling especially my upper body. Can’t do a plank for morevthan a few seconds.

@AuntGlow trying to not act on the urges I mentioned in the post above. I’ve tried some breathing and grounding, but my emotions feel heightened now, it’s weird. I’ve gone from disassociated to deregulated. I could do some stretches and wrap myself up, not sure what else to do

Re: Feeling caged up

@GezzaP right now=rn

It’s okay, you can take it at your own pace. The great thing about exercise if you can go at your own pace, I only use small weights or bodyweight during my workouts

Re: Feeling caged up

My pace is super slow. Have some weights light ones and heavier ones. @creative_writer there are some yoga poses that are really good for your back.

Re: Feeling caged up

I am with you, you're not in this alone @creative_writer. Sometimes I quickly switch from hypoarousal to hyperarousal, it's very much a 'two sides of the same coin' kind of thing - your body is needing safety. Stretching and wrapping yourself up sound like really lovely ways to do this. Could you try them now and let me know how you go? 💖

Re: Feeling caged up

@GezzaP it’s okay to go at your own pace, especially when it comes to preventing injury.

@AuntGlow I’ve tried stretching and I’ve wrapped myself. Feeling a bit safer, but it’s hard. I don’t want to feel what I’m feeling
