Re: Hi

yeah for sure! @ArraDreaming

i think these were the ideas i emailed you last week:

  • Recovery-focused stories (maybe sharing a moment that meant a lot to your mental health journey?)
  • Puzzles/Jokes/Crosswords, etc
  • Sharing an interest/hobby/art work that resonated with your journey (I think remember you mentioning how running or being outdoors have helped you, you can talk about that too)
  • Can be another cultural piece (how does your culture help your mental health?)
  • Things that helped ground you/bring you joy, etc
  • You can even focus on your role as a parent or husband and how that's helped

any of these interest ya?

@ArraDreaming @rav3n

What about an acknowledgement of Country and of Lived Experience. I was thinking about adding them to my piece but you are welcome to do it if you like. Or maybe you could write a piece about the natural landscape you live in and all the creatures you see within it. Or even a piece about gardening. So many ideas and just one newsletter!

Re: Hi

hiya @Oaktree!

loving the suggestions!! a gardening or landscape related one would be really cool.

we did have an acknowledgement of Country and lived experience in the last newsletter (page 2) but if either of you would like to edit it and write your own versions, we'd love to hear it too!

I think my role as a Peer Guide only goes until December and then I will be back to being just another member.

Re: Hi

I was putting my 2 yo to bed @rav3n but saw your suggestions

I’m not sure I like the landscape one @Oaktree

Re: Hi

What do you do as a peer guide @Oaktree

Re: Hi

@ArraDreaming

I do training, read policies and procedures, read posts, support posts, respond to posts and encourage engagement. It isn’t too much different from being a forums member but I have to be more careful about what I say. I am currently doing the Peer Support course at Tafe so i am learning to respond to people in a trauma informed way. I also need to take into account Peer Values. I am accountable to SANE.

@ArraDreaming

Trauma informed care takes into account a consumer’s/client’s safety, trust, choice, collaboration and empowers them
