Maybe meeting yourself where you're at is key? So, not trying to change how you feel, but noticing it and then giving yourself some compassion... and from there, looking at what you can do to support yourself?
Does that sound like something you could try?

I just wanted to let you know there was no intention to upset or interrogate you I just hadn’t seen you around so I was checking in
