Morning @TAB . The roller shutter guys are here. Hopefully everything goes smoothly and my neighbour doesn’t need to get her car out. Tradies ute blocking her access. After 9 I’ll go and knock on her door to explain and find out if they need to move their ute to let her out. Our driveway is hard to back out of. Guess tradies are used to it. I can’t do it.

How’s puss this morning?

Re: Tabaluga's 2.0

@SmilingGecko Tradies showed up about 10 minutes later than what secretary said.

Other guy delivered shutters at 7.30am.

Hopefully it all goes smoothly now. They said they’d be about an hour and a half. They are drilling holes in the bricks. Noisy hope doesn’t disturb neighbours too much.

I only slept 3 1/2 hours last night so very tired and this is 2nd bad night in a row. Only 3 hours night before. Too tired to nap.

I take lots of meds including one for sleep, but often can’t get back to sleep after trip to loo in the early morning. Sometimes last a bit longer. Aging is not fun.

Tradies very noisy it’s 8.35am here atm.

I had 4 coffees this morning and will have another after lunch. Shouldn’t but want to watch Adelaide Crows women’s final at 12.30pm. Will have an early lunch.

Hope tradies will be long gone by time to cook. Hoping to have time to water pots under eaves that don’t get the rain.

Oh well excuse rant. Hope your day is calmer than mine.

Oh, good @GezzaP . yes they back trailers up tight driveways like its a normal thing lol.

I gave in after hours of wailing and let cat out late last night. Not seen since. It was lifting up blinds and trying to open windows. (without success, unless object of exercise was to wake me ..)so its out running around hopped up on drugs with no clothes on... and ...loving it .. as Maxwell Smart would say ..

Re: Tabaluga's 2.0

@GezzaP If I am sleep deprived I try and aim for sleep between 11pm and 1am during that window.

All your rest and rejuvenation occurs during this time. I've been told this by healers and have since read it online

So if you cant get any sleep and insomnia is driving you crazy aim for this timeslot (11pm-1am) as that is where most of your beneficial sleep is going to happen.

I tried checking my search engine to bring up info about this time window as the content I got about this time window was from a book

"Sleeping from 11 PM to 1 AM aligns with the Chinese medicine "organ clock," where the Gall Bladder is the dominant organ during this period. This time is considered crucial for the body to transition from yin to yang energy, supporting the body's ability to rest and prepare for the day ahead. According to Chinese medicine, this window is vital for the body to process emotions, balance hormones, and detoxify, with the Liver and Gallbladder being particularly active from 11 PM to 1 AM. The importance of this period is further emphasized by the idea that "every hour of sleep before midnight is worth two after midnight," suggesting that sleep during this time is more restorative. The specific window from 11 PM to 1 AM is highlighted in traditional systems for its role in emotional regulation and physical restoration."

Re: Tabaluga's 2.0

I got up at 12.30am today slept from 9pm. So almost got that window @SmilingGecko . I don’t know if I believe that stuff but I know I haven’t had enough sleep because I’m hypomanic but exhausted at the same time. The exhaustion contains the hypomania.

But did lots of things during the morning after coffee. Knew I’d wake up early because of fretting that tradies wouldn’t show up again. They are almost done.

Chinese acupuncture and massage worked really well on my back. But need to go back again.

I got my withdrawal from super signed, sealed and banked. Moved most of the money to another account that earns interest. Will pay bills then if I can will move more money to savings account to earn interest. Doesn’t earn much but better than a kick in the teeth. Thinking might put some into term deposit to earn more interest we will see. Not sure if my credit union has term deposits or I’ll have to go to my other bank.

@TAB I’m going to have chop and salad today for lunch. Tradies almost finished. I will walk up shop after women’s AFL this afternoon. Need more smokes. Smoke too much when awake in the night. Can’t drive to shop too tired. Would be dangerous. Might have Chinese tonight as got super money overnight.

Re: Tabaluga's 2.0

@GezzaP even if you cant sleep at any other time the 11pm-1am period is your sweetspot. It makes you feel better in the morning. Its hard to navigate if you have irregular insomnia due to exacerbating factors but if you are able to entrain your awake/sleep rhythms a bit better (I know its hard) and try to be asleep at that time your body will say thankyou ❤️

Have you thought of investing in gold or silver instead of having it sit in a low interest bank account? Money now is so inflationary and you get no interest back.

1oz of silver back in 2022 was $50 now its worth $100.

You can have it stored in a vault and get it liquidated (converted) for cash at any time. So if you need $ money you just liquidate it for cash. It means your investment has doubled in value.

To test the theory I have eight 1oz silver coins which I got in 2022 for $400 now its worth $800. I'm going to liquidate it for cash and will get $800 back with a net gain of $400 I realised you wouldnt get that from a bank

You can get fractionated amounts of gold if you can't afford a coin or ingot or bullion. The fractionated amounts are like a small chip of gold so its more affordable.

So while the dollar is going down gold and silver is going up.

I am going to start putting away silver coins and try and find a place that does fractionated gold instead of keeping money in my bank account where its not gaining much interest and is losing its purchasing power.

During economic downturn gold and silver has always preserved it value. You may be in more luck than me with this. I only have my disability pension to go on so just put away $100 a fortnight. But going by news reports people are buying up gold and silver now because money holds no value. The dollar is crashing and you get virtually no interest from a bank.

Re: Tabaluga's 2.0

@SmilingGecko Yes have thought about gold and silver but never actually bought. Where do you buy ingots? I know the political economy of it all. I used to teach that stuff at Uni. US politics is fcking up whole world economy and war between Russia and Ukraine doesn’t help. I know banks don’t pay much interest but I can’t afford to tie up my money.

My super fund's a good one in the top 3 in Aust. every year. Had a $13,000 increase in my balance last financial year. They put some of my funds in gold.

Our dollar is losing value due to inflation and mostly exorbitant profit taking by big corporations. The ordinary person gets shafted.
