I've had trees lopped too @ENKELI The wider and taller the tree the higher the expense. The last quote I got for a tree I thought was pricey but was mistaken. You can search online for how much it costs.

Many of these people that cut down trees are not trained arborists either. We have people like this all over Melbourne. I would say go with a trained arborist as these other operators are risky. Saw an article in a local newspaper about it. I hope you can get the issue resolved nicely.

The next door neighbour cut down a series of branches of mine once which was entering their property. The person that did it was a hack. Thats what I was told by an arborist who knows how to cut a tree.

Anyway they just set up a shingle and say they are qualified to cut down your tree

@SmilingGecko thanks for the info, much appreciated. My brother is handling it and he has a friend of a friend who is an arborist - he gave us a quote and was upfront telling us to get other quotes and go with the best one. We know he's honest and trustworthy as we've had feedback from other people who have used him which is good.
The guy who turned up today was driving a souped up Commodore and had a look, muttered and mumbled about if he had time he'd do up a quote this afternoon otherwise tomorrow. He was from a company with a google score of 4.9 but I don't know how happy I am that they charge us to take the wood away and then sell it as firewood.

Someone was supposed to come yesterday and give a quote but they never turned up so that's them gone!

Might be going with the mate at this stage.

Went out for dinner last night. Fell asleep as soon as I got home.

I can't wait to get a new support coordinator. Then gym starts and long leisurely coffees in coffee shops.
