@SmilingGecko hey there. Fortunately I have my brother who stepped up and has helped with getting things done. Carpet needs to be replaced as well as my couch but that will have to wait until I get my inheritance. Health is not great and I have a GP appointment this week. For now the living room is a cement floor - easy to clean lol.
Thanks for your message, I really appreciate it 🥰

Thats ok, at least the carpet is gone @ENKELI and you can make some slow progress with GP I'm sorry to hear you arent well. It seems everything likes to happen at once. Things will get better soon. You will have an inheritance and it will loosen things up for you financially. You will have money which has been a problem up until now. Hopefully that will enable you to make more choices. Take good care and wishing you a good night!

@tyme I have carpet throughout my house except for the usual kitchen/dining and wet areas. I don't have strong opinions about it but I've been wanting to get the living room carpet gone for ages. I'd be living with cement floors if I ripped all the carpet out.
I like the idea of engineered hardwood or high end vinyl, like mum has in her home.

@ENKELI Have you considered tiles or slate for floors? Easy to clean. I have wooden floors except in carpeted bedrooms. Carpet in bedroom needs replacing. I have 2 rugs in lounge and dining rooms. Or you could get your cement floors polished. Sorry that my politics post upset you (I was a university teacher. You can call me Dr GezzaP lol. Arrogance speaking there (humour alert). Excuse me. There were very few academics who shared my views despite popular view that all academics are elite lefties.
