@SmilingGecko I am on to my second electric throw rug, after Mal played knead the dough (or making biscuits) and I wasn't sure whether he'd damaged the cable in the rug! You are right, they are the best thing. I use it when I am at my desk, on top of my bed instead of an electric blanket, I love it.
I also have a gas heater which works really well. My electric bill doesn't change much in winter, like you. In Summer though it is very high, I can't wait to be able to get more efficient air conditioning when I finally get my inheritance!
