@TAB aside from stopping at Merredin on the Prospector to and from Kal I had never been there. It's a nice little town. We stayed in a self contained villa at the caravan park.
It looks a bit tired over all but that is the curse of many small country towns. As I mentioned before, it's a consideration for retirement.
Lived in Kalgoorlie for a few years from 1987 and only went back once or twice after I left. It's been over 30 years since I went back. Not in any hurry to go back!
I worked for Western Mining and the Grace Removals when I was there. I got in to WAAPA so decided to go back to Perth and study.

@DownMoreThanUp sorry you have been feeling unwell my brother, never a good thing. I hope you are feeling better now?
I can't remember the last time I had a vanilla slice! It's something I look at and think, oh that looks yum, then eat it and think, not worth the hype.
My favourite baked treat would have to be jam donuts from my friends' family bakery. They have won many awards for their meat pies, I can attest to their deliciousness. Otherwise I can live without baked goods!

@TAB lol, no I didn't know that gaff meant house!
I bought my gaff 😁 for 95k in 1998, a house with the same specs as mine (4x2, same block size) sold for 767k back in November. Despite being told I shouldn't consider buying in this area, I don't think I've done too badly. Prices in Merredin are around 350k for the same but double the block size.
The 'vegas is a hub for country travellers, there is a huge shopping centre within walking distance from my place, as well as the council gym and swimming pool down the street, public transport nearby, public and private hospital.

@DownMoreThanUp lol, yes, I would like to ask Narcisister to stop pushing my buttons!
I've had a few issues with the support button but it seems like it's sorted itself out now.

@Glisten, MM was in a Krack haze and couldn't decide what channel to watch. He kept pausing the show that was on (some crime show no doubt) and then flicked to another channel. I worry about his TV time, I'm afraid he might get some ideas from the true crime shows. If he had opposable thumbs I know I'd be afraid...very afraid. He pretends to be all cute and fluffy but I've seen what he can do to a pigeon. The reason I give in to him is so that he doesn't do me in while I'm sleeping.
Real estate is good in Merredin, around $350k for a 4x2. Population is 3335 - half the population of the 'Vegas. No wonder I like it.
The WERI - Wheatbelt Endurance Riders Inc - do a Merredin Endurance ride every year. There is also the Agricultural Show.
There is an 8ha piece of land for sale for 200k - I say we buy it, have our houses built far enough away from each other so as not to bother the other but close enough to ride a Percheron over with muffins and a Thermos of tea. I'd built a cat run for MM and GypsyMonroe, a mancave for the bro and you could have your choice of dog and horse. Not a fan of the Percheron? How about a Clydesdale? I love the fluffy feet of the Clydesdales.
