@TAB my flatmate and I would go to a particular pub every Wednesday- we did shift work so we'd swap shifts to do 1542-2300 so we could sleep in. I'd drink, she'd drive and "smoke" back before drug testing was a thing.

I always had cab fare, usually went with a couple of friends to share the cost.

One time my girlfriend and I were going to a club and the cab driver asked us if we wanted a chuff. I passed but my girlfriend said yes so the cabby pulled the car over, turned off the meter and lit up.

Another time we were at a nightclub and Boris Becker was there with his girlfriend. The club was pretty quiet and I was standing at the bar next to him. He asked for a "viskey sour" then turned to me and asked "vould you like vone too?" I said no thanks and my girlfriend later said to me "you know who that is right?!" I had a bit of an idea but wasn't 100%.

I followed Pseudo Echo when I was 17 and a schoolfriend and I followed them around Perth, leaving a lipstick heart on the window of their car (a green Commodore!!) We waited by their car the last gig they did and the lead singer said "oh God not you 2 again!" We then got invited back to their hotel for the after party but we were under-age and both scared of our parents who had enforced a curfew. If mum had known it was an 18+ venue I think she would have grounded me for the rest of my life!

I saw OMD, Kids in the Kitchen, other Aussie bands and when Barnsey played in Kalgoorlie my workmates brother worked for their production company and asked my workmate to meet Barnseys band at the train station. Poor buggers had to catch a train from Perth while Barnsey flew. We had drinks with them but never got to meet Barnsey. He played at the race course and I lived in a unit next to the course so we heard the show for free.

I also met Melissa Etheridges' guitarists at the casino. I had a good conversation with them (is was at the Academy at this point) about the sound quality etc before they got kicked out for inappropriate footwear.

I saw Billy Bragg too, he was pretty cool.

@AuntGlow yeah, I did get to party at a couple of Christian concerts, an American singer Kenny Marks came to Perth and my Christian "sister" and I rushed the front of the venue to dance. Then I met 4 King & Country back in 2019 before their concert.

@PeppyPatti yep, Red Parrot, Rumours, Pinocchios, Underground, Palladium, Racquet Club. Metro Perth & Freo.

I even went to Connie's (Connections) with my gay husbands a few times.

lol my step dad came out in 1984- yes I remember going to The Court with him but not Connections !!!

Yes cigs seemed cheap. Airfares near same price as now ie they cost 10x what cost now relative to wages. Can't afford pub anyway more cheapest drink like $10 lol

Flagon of cheap but drinkable wine used to cost $2 lol fuel.prob 60c /litre and servo on every corner. Used to live near a HJs went there late one nite only drive in open. Wouldn't serve us cos on floor so we stood in queue in-between cars everyone had a laugh. We got our Whoppas lol
