What I love about you is that like me we are both stretching our arms out to receive self care. We are both different in how we do it.

I found Dr James Doty a neurologist doctor who uses his book/ audible to teach that the "alphabet of the heart" starts with compassion for oneself. He would suggest your great gift is the refusal to play a toxic role.

I watch my three brothers, all as abused as me play their roles in their lives. Their addictions to my Mum - / I learn how to be truly empathetic to my Damaged and wealthy brothers.

I see my biological fathers ' scarcity narcissism,' rule their lives as well.

My suggestion which you already know is Use Dr James Doty concept of "taming the brain" to realize that your father’s words were a projection of his own limitations, not an objective truth about your character.
